Buck down

Well, the morning was pretty exciting with my brother-in-law (who has never hunted deer) getting a shot at a buck. He didn't connect but it was still a blast. I swear I could hear his heart start pounding once I said 'it's a buck!' Anyway, after a little nap and some lunch my dad and I headed back up the mountain. We got up to our vantage point at about 5:00 and sat and watched. Soon we spotted a few moose and a single doe comming out to feed. At around 6:00 I heard something over to my right walking through the canyon. I stood up to see what it was and saw a few does feeding up towards the top. I moved a little closer so that I could get a better view and also so I could get ready for a shot just in case. Well I glasses up and saw two deer sparring so I knew they were bucks. One turned out to be a two point and then I saw the other was about as wide as his ears so I told my dad 'he's a shooter.' At the time all I could see were their heads so I had to wait for a better shot. I got settled in and ranged them at just under 300 yds. After about 5 minutes the deer finally stepped out and I shot. I ended up shooting right under his belly on the first two shots but he just stood there so I corrected and shot and hit him hard on the 3rd. I could tell he was hurt bad and he started to walk down hill so I hit him again and then he dissappeared into some trees. We got over there and found he only 20 yard from where I first hit him. He's definitely not the biggest deer of all time but I'm sure proud of him. He's my biggest to date.
