Well we just got back from Colorado 1st Deer season. It was hot and dry most of the time. Our first spot was terrible! We saw 3 doe's and 1 small buck in 2 days. We made a move to a new location and met Steve and Bob. They were great guys to have in camp. Larry and I hiked into an area we thought looked good and within an hour Larry spotted a nice buck across the the canyon. he made a great 282 yard shot. His buck is a 5x6. He shot his buck at 4:00 pm. We cut it up and stuck it in our badlands packs and headed out. We walked into camp at about 8:30 pm.

Next it was my turn. Larry spotted a good buck across the canyon bedded in an aspen patch. It did not take me long to work my way around to the aspen patch. As I was slowly working the aspens I spotted antler tips. I quickly brought up my binocs and made out an eyeball and a chin laying flat on the ground. I saw that it was him and quickly put a bullet right between his eyes at 35 yards!!

"Yeah, I'll shoot him"

Awesome. Even I might not forget that. Looks like they might be in the Aspens.

ktc- sorry not me PG
I would like to say the area we first hunted was hit hard by the winter kill. The second area we saw more deer than I have in years. We hunted public ground.

Holy smokes! Sounds like alot of fun and alot of packing. Great hunt, and great end result. congrats to all 4 hunters on being successful.

Thank u all for your comments. I have mixed feelings about this years Co hunt. Our first spot that we hunted for many years had almost ZERO deer and TONS of elk. Our sencond spot I saw more deer there than I have in a long time! I am talking we saw doe's, yearlings, small bucks, and mature bucks. So I really don't know how to sum it all up. For the record we hunted PUBLIC ground that had lots of pressure. We hunted first at about 7,000' and were succesful at 9,000'. The weather was hunt and dry.
