Hello all.. I have a moose tag for the area that overlaps these two deer areas and it has been an incredibly tough hunt to say the least. I have spent a total of 8 days hunting from daylight till dark and doing a lot of walking and havn't been able to turn up any moose. I passed up a very small bull in early october and havn't seen a moose since. I know there are a few guys on here that had tags for these units this year and was wondering if any of you saw any moose out there during your hunts. I would really appreciate any info anybody would be willing to share. Thanks

I hunted 102 for deer; 5 days in September and 3 days in Oct and I never saw a moose. If they behave anything like the elk and deer they are hiding in the cedars. That being said, if I had that tag I would be looking at the mouth of Trout Creek off Little Mountain and the South face of Pine Mtn along the Colorado boarder. Good Luck

Chance, I don't know anything about your moose area, but if I did I would be proud to help. Especially for all the help you gave me on my pronghorn hunt.

Best of luck to you, I know you're hunting hard!

Steve

sorry just saw your post so not sure if your still hunting or not. I hunted 102 and did not see any moose until I hunted one little pocket and saw about 7-8 moose. PM me and Ill try to explain where I was if your hunt is still on.

Last year there was a decent bull on the north side of Teepee down in the cedars and mahoganny. I also see them in Salt Wells Creek just east of Tidsworth Gap in the part that is in the deep canyon. The road was washed out last time I tried. Earlier this year I saw a bull on Miller Mtn, but I bet he is gone now. I also see moose on the west side of aspen in the cedars and mahogany. Of course you can see them on little mountain, but I bet you have tried there. Moose in that area dont seem to act like other moose--crazy critters. I have seen them along 430 in the past out in the desert. Good luck and post up a pic if you pull the trigger. You will have a better chance finding a 50 inch bull than a big buck.

Ive never seen a moose in this area, Always heard there were a few, good luck and post pics if you get one, would be neat to see.

I just returned 2 weeks ago from WY 102. We saw 3 moose. Glassed a bull one day and then a cow and calf another day. I am tempted to just say exactly where right on this post because I will never return. That unit turned out exactly as I had feared. Very few older age class bucks and/or poor genetics. I had max points and went with the "#1" mule deer hunt in that state, but I was very bummed. Passed on 170 inch bucks daily, fun hunt, but lacks giants. I hiked hard and glassed behind my 15X and 40X binos and saw 40 bucks a day. OK, I am done complaining. Check your PM for exact location of moose.

Just curious, for you hunters that hunt down in area 101/102 have seen more and more mountain lion sign or activity in the last couple of years. Did'nt mean to hijack you're post. Thanks
