CO Unit Comparisons

LAST EDITED ON Nov-10-08 AT 09:41PM (MST)[p]It is way too early to start thinking about next years apps, but I am doing it already. Here is a list of the units I am considering for next year in CO. I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone with experience on any of these units. Which would you choose and why? Are there other units in the same point range that I should be considering? To clarify, I am looking for a unit with plenty of public land, glassable country, decent deer numbers, and the potential to take a 180+ buck. Thanks for any feedback via posts or pm.

Just got back from 53 3rd Season. Hunted hard all 7 days; Saw 1 buck that was a border line shooter and a few dinks. I'll be looking for a new unit to try out next year.

I had a 55 2nd season LO tag this yr. I live in the unit and know it really well. The numbers and quality are bad, period! I shot the biggest buck I could find. He was a nice 3x3 that grossed 176 with trash (as a mainframe, 166 gross). I have 6 PP and will be looking for a new area outside of the Gunnison Basin next year.

Thanks for the tips. From everyone I have talked to, Gunnison Basin and Eagle Co. sound like good areas to stay away from for a while. I hope they recover quickly there. Saint, I saw the pics you posted of your big 3, probably one of the coolest bucks I have seen posted yet this year! I really liked him. Thanks again.
