I am thinking of taking the kids to the Mormon Mountains for a close deer hunt. Any info on the Mormon Mountains would be appreciated. I will only burn the tag on a great buck and I saw one that came from this zone last year. Any idea when the rut is in this range.....I would assume it has started.....Thanks in advance.

Look up around Horse Springs. When I hunted there all the deer were down low late in the season. My hunting partner and I killed a couple pretty good bucks.

Thanks Wes! Where did you spot the deer? In the flats, under brush, trees, rocks etc. Your bucks over 28"? Heavy dark horned? Thanks again.

just went through there yesterday evening about a hour before dark saw a super nice buck with 4 does right off the main road between the east mormons and the mormons i think they call that pass the summit but not sure to its correct name i would say he was pushing 30 inches and had inline extras could not tell how many cause i didnt have my binos but worth looking at for sure good luck
