Mule Deer w/Whitetails

I watched this commercial on youtube.com and thought it was funny that there was a mule deer in the middle of all of those whitetails. I've never seen them right together, herded up like that.

Can you say, "DEAD DEER?" :)

I've driven through South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming many a times on return trips from Pheasant Heavan. I have to admit that I've seen this before, many time's we've stopped to look at a field full of whitey's and you'll see Muley's poking around the field with them. Pretty interesting, makes you wonder if there's some cross breeding going on?

The way i understand it is that there is crossing breeding going on. A whitetail doe will not stand for a muledeer buck but a muledeer doe will stand for a whitetail buck. The off srping is suppose to be sterile. If anyone else knows about this i would like to know more about it.

I've heard the same thing about whitetail bucks breeding mule deer does but not the opposite. I was told the offspring are usually weak and often don't make it to maturity. This is why western states like here in wyo allow the large whitetail harvests. The whitetail are slowly taking over the muledeer. Every muledeer doe caring a hybrid can't have a purebreed muledeer, thus hurting the muledeer population. Meanwhile every whitetail doe has a brand new whitetail cooking in the oven increasing their population. Thats what i was told anyway. I did shoot a mule/white hybrid doe a couple years ago.
