I have a moral dilema.Well it seems like a moral dilema to me. My brother and I were thinking of going to unit 55 this tuesday and wednesday. We have never been before but hate to see a expensive out of state tag go to waste. I have a pretty good idea of where to go from friends, so I am not asking for any secret spots. My dilema is this. The weather is supposed to be great and my house is maybe a third of the way sided. Good weather is obviously the best time to side a house. We are thinking of bugging out on the hunt and siding. I need someone to give me some good news to help me change my mind. Like there is a real good chance that if we drive 2 1\2 hours we can get onto some bucks? There is still a chance we can go later before it ends, but time off work is at a premium right now. Anyone hunt this hunt and willing to give a little info? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance Layne

very good advice. I guess I am just wondering if any deer are being seen to justify the trip. Believe me if I don't go now every effort will be made to try to get there before it ends. Also nothing like a half done house that sits unfinished cause winter hits hard later. Thanks for the comment. Layne

i spent every other day of the last week on that hunt. I saw two decent 25ish inch 4 pts on opening day and other people beat me to both of them. Other than that ive been seeing the same 20 does and forkies over and over again. Ive seen a lot more hunters than mature bucks this year, the weather isn't helping.

Dr. thanks for the info. I am going to hit the sack. I guess I will see what other responses I get and make a decision in the morning. I'm leaning towards waiting for a storm and trying it later. Thanks again. Layne

If your waiting on a storm then you will be waiting like everyone else.
I am a siding sub contractor and I have had my house half sided for over 6 months and now I am tag less wife is leaning on me. Siding will wait. Big ol buck might not. I would be out there if you have the time. Just because some people are not seeing them does not mean you will not. Unless you hunt the same spot they are.
Good luck and go chase those bucks.

I am heading out the door to go look for bucks for next year so my siding will wait another day. LOL

superspider-- sounds like we both have the same dilema only my wife must be meaner (okay I'm whipped ). I will be getting with my brother today and probably going hunting and let the siding wait. Thanks Layne

Hunted it opening day saw a couple three pointers and one monster up high. I am waiting for the snow to fall and i will head back down.

I finally got my witts about me and we are headed hunting. the siding can wait. That was a close one. I have been real torn on this one as a bad day of hunting is better than a good day at work. Just to be out there trying will be worth it. Layne
