Heard from a buddy of mine who was down on the Henry Mountains this weekend that the Utah sportsman tag buck was shot last night(Saturday 6th). Said she shot it later in the evening, had some broken points but still scores well over 220. Can't wait to see the pics.

is this what your talkin about cause it has broken points...

Thats the gov tag buck. Scored 195 to 205 (depending on how they score some measurments). The sportsmans tag buck was killed by a women, scored 230 as is... 20 inches missing. Doyle had filmed the buck with the extras prior to him breaking them. Congrats to her.

Just stopped and checked out Steph's buck (sportsman's tag)
and it is a monster. It did have a bunch of broken points (they are figuring at least 20 inches) but still scores great.
Congrats Steph on a beautiful buck... The mass on this thing is truly unbelievable.
I want Steph and Ol' Jake to fill everyone in on the score and details...
You guys rock! and you earned this ol' buck. You put a ton of time and every weekend searching and waiting for this stud, and it finally paid off!
I'm happy for you Steph! You showed us how it should be done and showed me how dedicated a gal can be when she sets her mind to it. Your dedication was truly inspirational!
Thanks for letting me be a little part of your hunt. I enjoyed it more that you will ever know...

We just got back and are still unpacking.

My buck is a STUD!!!!

His gross score is 230&2/8" as is!

He has well over 21" of broken points that are missing. They were there a few days ago, and if he would have cooperated better then (or even earlier this year), he would have grossed over 250. He was a smart old buck, and I never thought we would be able to get him. It doesn't matter that he is broken, he is awesome just as he is. Also, his cape reflects his fighting behavior. I'm not sure how it's going to look mounted, he has scars everwhere. Talk about a "split-eared" Henry Mountain buck, this old brute has several splits in both ears including a fresh one from this year. He must have been a mean old bugger!

I want to thank everyone that helped with my hunt. Rick and his family helped several weekends and there was a whole bunch of others that helped also.

I especially want to thank my husband for all of the time he spent finding "MY BUCK"!

I will have to count up how many people were involved with this hunt. However, I'm not sure I want to know how much we spent on this hunt as we were somewhere every week looking for my deer.

Stephanie

Congratulations Stephanie on what sounds like an awsome buck, and an awsome hunt, us Monster Muley Nuts sure would enjoy seeing a picture of that brute if you dont mind.

Steph, here is a message I was asked to post here for you.

"Steph,

Congrats on a giant buck, I want people to know I have never seen anybody work harder or longer in pursuit of a buck of their dreams.

I met Dustin a year ago on the mountain scouting for you. All the rain and snow days you guys spent trying to find the once in a lifetime buck really paid off.

All the steep and rough hikes, it took a hunter with heart and dedication to kill the biggest buck in the state for 2008. My hat goes off to you and Dustin on a great job.

Doyle"

Just saw some pics if the buck! Holy He11! What a stud! Big time congrats to you Steph, and your hubby! I have been hearing nothing but good things about both of you! Glad to hear theres still some "good guys" left out there!
Congrats again on an awesome buck!

Steph and Dustin. Your buck is a HOG!!! We were all very glad to be there when you shot him. None of us would have ever thought he was so big... We will be sending you the pics of your deer in the next couple days. I also agree with Doyle. You guys are some of the hardest most dedicated hunters I have met. Sure wish there were more people like you. If you would like I could post a pic, but not without your ok.
Take care
Matt.

Steph,
Congrats on all your hard work and patience paying off. You are an inspiration to the rest of us. I haven't seen your buck yet, but I'll stop by and check him out. I've known Dustin for many years and had the good fortune of hunting with him many times. I know that nobody deserves to take a monster buck more than him and Steph. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and CONGRATS again.

HOLY SH** I just got a pic of it. That thing is a BEAST!

Way to go!!! If you have it there at the clinic, I will need to stop by and see this bad boy in person. Maybe I will stop by the end of the week.

Again, congrats you guys!!!! Well deserved!

Alright slammy, send me my freakin pic if you got one or I'm bustin your skull friday! WTF? You think I don't read these threads anymore?

I don't understand what all the hype is over this buck, it's just a typical Utah "fork horn".

......a fork here, a fork there, another fork attatched to that fork and a fork behind the forks.......big flippin deal!! ;-)
