Thanks Killowatt and eelgrass for posting my pictures. It was the annual Big Buck contest at The Watering Hole in Spring Creek (Elko), Nevada and we had a lot of big bucks this year. The first picture is of our Karaoke operator Dave Constable who MCed throughout the day and ran Karaoke after the contest was over.
The second pic is of our antler measurers Ralph Bettancourt, Jason Macias, and Shaun Hornberger who stayed pretty dang busy during the judging. Antlers are measured by width, height and number of points. If we tried to measure Boone and Crocket style we would be out there for a week.
The third picture is of one of the bar owners, Kenda Constable posing with some of the antlers and holding the buck she took this year.
The fourth pic is of Jack Constable, Kenda's Husband and the guy with the goatee and who is the guy who puts on the event, and his bro-in-law Kyle Lawhorn doing the giant Bar-B-Q.
#5 is almost everybody who entered the contest as well as picture #6.
#7 is our auctioneer "Jake" who auctioned off some prizes to help raise money for next years event.
#8 This is a picture of the Karaoke guys helper.
#9. These are the 1st, second and third place winners in the muzzleloader category.
#10. Robbie Hood with his muzzy buck.
#11. 1st place winner in the muzzy category, Everette Wisener.
#12. One of the youth entries. This guy has a good buck every year!
#13. One of the adult rifle winners.
#14. This is the 1st place adult rifle winner. I was told that this buck measured 35" outside spread.
#15. One of the Archery winners.
#16. Another Archery winner.
#17. My favorite category is the youth and this is one of the youth winners.
#18. 1st place in the youth category.
#19. Another youth buck.
#20. 4 of the youth entries together.
#21. This year we gave a prize to the youth with the smallest buck. This encourages all entries to bring in their bucks no matter how small they might be.
#22. Scott Fetters bought both home made knives in the auction which was a big help in supporting next years event. Thanks Scott.
#22. One of the winners holding a picture of the prize he won. Due to gun laws getting tougher and tougher we are not able to bring the rifles out of the store for the event. A true sign of of what is to come out of gun control laws. Nevertheless the winner looks happy.
Thank you to everybody that entered the contest and I apologize for not knowing everybodies name. It was a good year for Nevada hunters and it showed in the contest. Thanks again. fatrooster, Drew Edwards.
