My friend Ken killed this buck on a DIY late season hunt in CO. Buck grossed 207 and will likely net 200. What an awesome buck!Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Flippin' outstanding buck! I think you can change the post title to "Huge CO Typical" and be fairly safe with that statement. Those G-2's look like they break 20 inches. Reminds me alot of a buck that was killed by Robb Rishor that I have the sheds from and that buck netted 206 and grossed 203 the last year I found his sheds with only a 21-22 inside spread.
Killing a 200+" typical... incredible. Having my 72 year old father along with me...priceless. The G2's break 22" and he is 32" outside spread at the G3's. I have hunted mule deer my entire life and am well aware that no matter how hard or how well you hunt, coming across a deer like this requires a lot of luck. Thanks for the nice comments. Merry Christmas. Ken
I know of two other typicals that were killed in a nearby unit that were 202 and 208.....killed on private land. A 207 typical on public land is an amazing acomplishment.
22 inch G-2's are World Class. Kind of like having 30" main beams, 48 inches of mass or a 40 inch spread. Freakishly unusual. Those knobby bases are awfully appealing I might add. Gives him a little extra "mulie chrome."
What unit? Who cares. The buck is dead. It could happen most anywhere in Colorado(producing a buck like that) and gentlemen don't ask to kiss and tell on the internet.
Super buck, just a real stud. Big-time congrats. I would have been close on the G-2's but would have missed the spread by quite a bit. He's so tall I did not think he was that wide. WOW!
"Roadless areas, in general, represent some of the best fish and wildlife habitat on public lands. The bad news is that there is nothing positive about a road where fish and wildlife habitat are concerned -- absolutely nothing." (B&C Professor, Jack Ward Thomas, Fair Chase, Fall 2005, p.10).
