Wastach Extended Archery

My dad and I are planning a November Wasatch archery hunt next year. Basically my question is, which part of the month is traditionally the best time to go? I figure there are a few factors at play including the weather, rut, etc.

Thanks

Mid month is my suggestion. I've hunted it quite a bit for the last 6 years and That's when I usually hunt the most and see the most activity, snow or not.

As of now we're scheduled for the week before thanksgiving, I just wasn't sure if there is substantial snow if the deer will be lower than the hunt area?

Also, we are staying in SLC, but plan on getting off the roads as far as we can, so far I've just been looking at maps and Google Earth, but I'm not sure how high up the range I should be looking? Any suggestions on road less areas or a elevation guideline for mid-November would be much appreciated~

It all depends on the snow as far as how high up you hunt... this year we did not have any snow until December. and its the Wasatch not a lot of "roads" unless you road hunt the subdivisions for the most part the good parts of the extended unit are steep and high. there are some monster bucks up there my brother took a 220 class buck off that sucker in '01

Thanks!

We normally backpack hunt 90% of the time, but we figure that the weather is just gonna be too cold! Should I reconsider that? Or is it doable to stay in SLC? Any areas with reasonable access from SLC anybody would suggest? Nothing specific, just what side of a major road, or some other general area?

It is very hard to judge what to do this far in advance. I would stay flexible. If there is a huge storm in Nov. then come and hunt from the Hotel. If the weather is good, then plan to backpack.
Very hard to say.

No question about judging from here, I'll probably change my mind 10 times between now and then as far as the dates go. I was actually just worried about too much snow and deer being pushed below the hunt area, is that a problem or am I just mistaken on that?
