Does anyone know anything about ziebach county south dakota? I just received access to some private ground and was wondering if anybody is familiar with that county. thanks Scott

Rooftop - It really depends on the specific piece of property that you have access to. Every county in the state has some good deer and deer country but they all also have some bad areas as well. If it is close to the Cheyenne or Moreau rivers, then it is probably going to be pretty good.

If the land has some good creek or river bottoms on it, it will be holding some deer what size would depend on food, how hard they are hunted, and how much cover they have, A lot of little places in those western counties hold some great deer, The whole county might not be great one but it will have some good pockets in it. The land owner should be able to tell if their is big deer on it or not.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-15-09 AT 07:44PM (MST)[p]The problem is the land owner lives 5 hours away and only uses the land for farming wheat. No one lives on it or hunts it, and the landowner does not hunt deer or care to so he really does not no if there are big deer or not. He said he has seen alot of deer on and around the property. I am trying to get gps cordinates so i can get some topo maps. Any idea how to get cordinates with just a name and address? All I know is that it is a little south of dupree. Thanks

I live in SD, I would be willing to check it out if I had permission and was carrying my bow with me :) Wheat fields are good choice for the november, providing there is some broken up ground or a place for them to bed.

if you know how far from town(dupree) and in which direction you can find his place by using Google earth and you can find his fields and if there is any creek beds or sage brush draws, ECT good luck.
If he has winter fields I'm sure he has some deer what size is the question, if you know a few of the local places The Co-op or main Bar or Store you can call and get some information from them they will think you're crazy but you will learn a thing or two. lol
