My dad has 7 deer resident points for Utah. Which unit/cwmu should he put in for that has the best chances of drawing to get a heavy 30" buck?

Thanks,

HAHAHAHAHA, Good luck finding a heavey 30" buck in the books.

You ask as if this is a no brainer, The only unit that I know of that what you are asking is even consivable is the henrys. Good luck on drawing that tag. Your best bet would be to start calling operators of the CWMU's and asking them Questions.

30" bucks are not around every ridge on most of the LE units, and even if there was one that you could draw with 7 points I doubt that the people that know it would be advertiseing it on the World Wide Web.

Also, you still got a couple years before you will get a bookcliffs tag anyways with only 7 points.

hahah jake, you just broke his heart... you could have let him down a little easier. but hey, im a fan of being blunt and honest!
I agree with you on your thoughts on a 30' buck, in all my years of hunting, i think i have seen a total of 4 deer that size or bigger...

30" Heavy with kickers and a droptine,I will take one too let me know where he waiting for me. Thanks
I think your best bet would be a CWMU because you might have enough points to draw one, all the other places Paus,Bookcliffs,Elkridge,Henrys all take more points.

Good luck with even seeing a 30" buck in the book cliffs. I have been out there scouting and helping friends for 3 years in a row now and have never seen anything bigger than a 170" 27 inch buck.

Unit's/cwmu?s that have produced 30" bucks on a regular basis.
Henneries
Alton
Ensign
Paunsaguant?

Your best bet with 7 points is the Paunsaguant and even then you are a long ways off.

I know the henrys is a long shot but it can happen I drew it with 7 points in 05
