Wyoming Deer draw ?

I have max points for Wyoming deer . I have been putting in for the late rut hunts and as of yet have been unsuccessful which is fine I can wait . the problem I have is that I have been lucky enough to draw the Utah Expo tag for elk on the Pahvant and now will be putting all my efforts into that hunt and with the economy the way it is I'm not sure that I can afford to do much else . I have a hard time just buying another point so the question I have for you guys is . What unit in Wyoming has the best deer and the least chance of drawing even with max points for non res ? If I happen to draw that is fine I can always find a way to hunt if you know what I mean .

thanks
Steve

Just go to WGF/hunting/draw odds and it will show you all you need to know. Good luck on your elk hunt, you are a fortunate man.

Steve, nice problem to have :>) If you really can't afford time or money to do another hunt then you shouldn't apply. You are taking the risk of shortchanging a maybe a once in a lifetime tag. Even if you pick an area like 128 or 102 with really low odds you are in the max points pool so no one has a better chance than you to draw. The point is only $50 bucks and you have until Sept to buy it. My .02 is buy the point and wait 'till you're ready to use a great tag when you draw it. GOOD LUCK. Chip

If your worried about drawing a tag due to time and or money, no question - put in for the point. Why would it even be a question unless you thought you could do it financially? You've got a great tag - hunt it and worry about WY next year. Buy the point in September and don't worry about it. I realize that purchasing points adds up quick, but if $50 is going to make or break you, you're in the wrong ballgame.

Put in for the 128 late hunt. The odds are horrible (even with max points, which is a whopping 3). If you did somehow manage to draw, the dates of your hunts aren't going to conflict.

I wouldn't try & draw a tag this year. If you do apply than you'll still have the application fee on top of the PP fee. It's not a lot of money but it's still your money!! Apply for the PP this summer & plan for next season. Just my opinion.

Even with max points your odds are terrible, but...youre on a roll. Put in for 128 or 102, both are well after your elk hunt. That would be one heck of a 'problem' to have.

thanks for your input guys you all make valid points I guess I have a few days left to mull it over . Money isn't necessarily the issue when it comes to a good hunt I can always find the money . I just hate not trying its kind of like the expo tag the odds aren't good but you know if you don't try you won't draw so you have to try . thanks again 128 is the one I have been putting in for so what the heck I may just go for it
