1st off thats Founder !

Wondered if they could be numbered or lettered, making voting easier.

#4 Saskmans 2007 Muzzleloader Whitetail or #50 huntnhard32 for field photos are the best.
Not the size that makes the best picture.

WOW! What a great thread! It sure was refreshing to enjoy the scenery rather than arguing and bashing! Congradulations to all the entries, there are so many great pics I can't select a stand out favorite! I noticed one thing though, for all the regular MM members that like to share their opinions, few joined in to share their pleasant and successful experiences! I wonder why? To those of you that did post! Thanks, that was enjoyable!

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-09 AT 02:38PM (MST)[p]I would like to nominate 3 for my favorites.

#1 Appleman's Sonora Muley in post #17 (Stud buck, and an almost flawless photo)

#2 Saskman's photo of his buddy in post #42. First photo in the group with the monster nontypical. (Huge buck, and beautiful pose)

#3 Huntnhard32's photo in post #50 of his velvet buck with his son holding it.
(what an awesome photo. Nice wide buck, with a smile just as wide!) I know these guys, and they're good guys.

Deerbedead

Brian,
All the bucks posted are worthy of a prize. I think you should just keep the pack, your deer are pretty impressive, but if you want a few other choices, im going with Appleman and Nonet.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-09 AT 03:01PM (MST)[p]Well here are a few of my favorites. In no paticular order.

Hunthard32 Post 50. The pic with his son, what a smile.

Bohntr post 57, all of his bucks is amazeing.

Deerbedead all of his posts, for the same reason as Bohntr, anyone that can kill or be a part of killing that many big bucks is Crazy.

Applemans post 17, That buck is awsome, and a great field photo.

Ohh I almost forgot, BCBOYs post #44 the pic with the old man and the lack in the background. Awsome.

Great Post and Awesome Pics!!! I've had a ton of fun looking at all the photos I've seen from previous posts as well as the numerous new pics! Its been great to see some new faaces to MM! Tough to pick a top picture from all those submitted, but here are my top three:

#3) Post #17, That's one sweet muley in what looks like Mexico or a desert muley hunt. Great looking photo

#2) Post #10, the hunters daughter gives that pic a ton of character

#1) My top pick is from post 59, Dragging that buck out in the snow. Thats one great buck and a great photo.

I like most all of them. Its tough to choose. I have hunted with deerbedead and that family can just flat kill the bucks. Its to close to say they are all sweet.

Not sure if we are suppose to pick the biggest buck or the prettiest picture, either way, there are alot of great pictures to pick from. If I had to pick one it would have to be #25 as it depicts a real situation around timberline with the hunter looking like he just finished field dressing a great buck. Just my opinion but what do I know.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-09 AT 10:09PM (MST)[p]huntnhard32, post #50

A close second is Appleman #17, an incredible field photo
that could be on a front cover of a magazine!!

WOW GUYS!!! Thanks for the votes. I have to admit to being pretty happy/grateful no matter wether we get the prize or not. I just called my wife in to show her the pictures and the nice words that you guys had to say. I think that might of been the longest she has looked at any deer photos, and I have shown her tons. My son is asleep I can hardly wait for tomorrow, to show him this thread and let him know he is practically famous! I do have to say that the Applemans picture #17 is pretty amazing, what a field photo, not to mention what a buck, those big massive chocolate horned sonora bucks are georgeous and the way he framed that shot, gives you a little taste of old Mexico. Thanks again for the kind words!

Post 46 Fly4fish That a great looking buck with some outstanding country in the back ground.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

If post 50 by huntnhard don't bring a smile to your face there is something wrong with you. That poor little feller is ruined for life! Post 50 gets my vote.If I was a hunting magazine publisher that pic would make the front cover.

I also like saskmans muzzy whitail pic. Very nice backdrop and a beautiful big buck to fill up the rest of the frame.

I have also hunted with deerbedead and his ability to spot game is unsurpassed. His collection of BIG mulies is proof of it. A hell of a good taxidermist as well.

First off I was glad to see so many smiles.

Appleman post 17 is my favorite photo

second would be Colth-oo post 17. That's a great Buck and photo young man.

Third would be Huntnhard32 post 50. That kid is hooked for life.

I like high country pics, so my choices in no particular order are:

#16 Cabinfever's velvet buck above treeline

#31 Luckyshot's 2nd velvet buck above treeline

I'll admit that #50 Huntnhard 32's photo of his son w/the buck is classic and exceptional, but I really like photos of bucks w/ hunter and weapon and enough scenery behind to really show where the buck was killed.

My vote goes to huntnhard32, It is
one of those photos that you can
look at a 100 times and it still
makes a person smile.

I have photos of a couple of antelope
hunts with my then, 4-5 year old son
and my dad and every time I look at it
it brings back memories!

Really tough to pick from this group of winners, all great photo's. This is the main reason i really like this website, lots of BIG BUCKS!!!

My favorite pic was post 46, Fly4fish with his 4 incher in front of beautiful country. Not exactly sure why i like this one over some close others but i do.

The winner, IMO, has the best combo of it all, is post 17, Appleman. Looks like a great cover shot if ever i've seen one!

Congrats to all & Thanks for posting!!

Appleman #17 (or) Saskman in general for total quantity of amazing entries. Good grief... how much does that guy hunt????

First- Appleman's mule deer in post #17.

Good composition, good exposure and focus, legs tucked, no blood, hunter is low behind deer so focus is on deer, antlers are sky-lined to accent them that and not lost in the background, palo verdes frame the sides, a little too much sky but can be cropped.

For second, I liked Saskman's 2007 Muzzleloader Whitetail photo, good composition and background, no tall grass sticking up in front of lens, but he needed to sit instead of squat (he being too high drew my attention to him instead of deer) and the photo was too contrasty.

OK, Appleman's #17 post and Huntnhard32 #50 post have the most votes.

All those photos are just AWESOME. I really thought we'd get it to 100 posts, but......still some super cool stuff to look at. There are lots of GREAT photos posted up. I'm sure glad I have help picking the winner. Thanks EVERYONE for sharing your photos and thanks to those of you who are helping me pick the winner.

The winner is.............Appleman #17 post. Super buck and the photo is about perfect. Send me a PM Appleman.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-23-09 AT 09:51PM (MST)[p]Guess my calculations came up different than yours.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-23-09 AT 10:48PM (MST)[p]Mine as well, I got huntinhard with 10 1st's or tie for firsts, and appleman with 7 1st's or tie for firsts.

(A tie for first is where the poster did not pick a flat out favorite, but just listed a few that they liked best.)

But you are the judge, the post dose say "Help you pick a winner".

On a side note I think you would have gotten to 100 posts if everyone would have listed each photo under its own post.:)

Appleman's photo would have been my pick, as well.

Hunthard32's photo had a great subject, but if the aim was to judge it in regards photo quailty, it missed the mark in several ways.

So in the realm of constructive criticism, here's why. First of all, it was way overexposed (see a 20 sec. trip to Photoshop below). Also, it probably would have been better in a vertical format, which would have included more of the deer without cutting off its nose.

Cropped tighter with exposure corrected.

I thought the composition on appleman's photo was good, but his face shadowed by the hat brim is distracting. It ruined the picture for me.

Grizz,
Yup, the shadow was a nit that could have been corrected with a bit of fill flash. But overall, the photo was still a top scorer.

IMO, the one below was right up there, as well. And Saskman also had a couple good ones.

There were for sure better pictures and bigger bucks, I know nothing about compisition or lighting. I just loved the picture because it captured a moment of a young boy with his arms extended as wide as he could with a huge smile and a good buck. When I first submitted it I didn't think it had a chance. But so many people mentioned it as thier favorite or one of thier favorites that it sure made me feel really good. It was a memory I will never forget and that is the biggest prize of all. Thank-you to all of those who mentioned the picture, and the biggest thanks goes to my son Gavin!! For bringing that smile into my life and sharing one of my passions! Congratulations to Appleman what a great buck and photo you deserve it!!

I sure do like looking at all of the great pictures. With the invention of all this digital stuff it sure gives everyone alot more opportunity to have fun with the huntin pics. Saskman has taken it to a great level and huntinhard32 with post 50 sure takes the cake as one that touches my heart but my overall favorite of a XL buck that is composed really nice with Great color and subject material is Luckyshot withe post 31-both shots are superb but I like the top one the best. Fine pic. Thanks all for the fun pics to check out!!!

The voting narrowed it down to the two, as those pictures were liked by the most. Although that young kid holding those big antlers was cool, I felt that because half of the bucks face was missing, that appleman's was a little better "overall" big buck field photo.
