Randsom Owens / Leon Parson

I have two origanal 8x10 pencil drawings of two bighorns that Leon drew for me while at a hunting camp in the Pavant. They are drawn on a piece of white card board. One of them is smudged (grrrr) and the other one is in perfect shape. I've often wondered what they would go for. He also gave me a print of September Again for helping him haul one of his deer out. He gave me Mountain Men and Muledeer but I can't remember why.
I'll dig up the bighorn pictures and try and post them tomarrow.

Here's the pictures of the rams that Leon did for me. Does anyone have any idea what they might be worth?

Thanks for sharing! Those are sweet pictures. Leon is a great guy, a few years back I was in his shop a few times up in Rexburg and was surprised at how personable and friendly he was.

Hard to say how much those pictures are worth where they are original sketches. To me they would be extremely valuable as they were a personal gift from Leon, as I am sure they are to you.

My dad also talks about Leon being a great guy and teacher. My Dad is Randsom Owens and studied under Leon for 3 years at what was Ricks College in Idaho. I don't know which prints "shelbys" looking for but I have access to art files others have never seen. I've even seen Leon original drawings in my dad's things. My dad call's his own drawings "Rough's" which are the drawings he does while planing for origanal paintings. Sounds funny but I see them laying on the floor all the time around his easel. It's fun to watch him paint. I think he is really good but he is always so critical of his own paintings, and always says that soon day he wants to learn to paint. I'll try and post some drawings later if my dad will let me.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-09 AT 02:15PM (MST)[p]I have a picture of me, Leon and Rich Larroco from the 80s but without the help of the computer geek at work. I can't get it to load. Maybe tonight when I go to work I can get some help.

It really is a small world. muledeershedsrock, that's cool that Randsom Owens is your Dad. I love his work. He brings to life the bucks we all dream of from Southern Utah. I sent you a PM.

nontypical, I also sent you an email. Thanks for posting.

I've been a Leon Parson fan since I was a kid growing up in Boise. I have numerous prints of his and plan on one day collecting all the deer and elk prints that he has done. A few that I am lacking are the early No-Tellum ones (backside and crest) and Snow Buck. I also want to get a Weather Change elk print, that is my personal favorite.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-28-09 AT 09:52AM (MST)[p]Leon Parsons did the artwork on this Browning safe several years ago from a photo of mine that had been published in the NRA's American Hunter magazine. He sent me the original scratch art for it.
