Here are some photos of a big non typical muley and his sheds.
I have been after this buck for a while and he is still alive and well. I saw him a couple of times last September and both times were close encounters. One of which I missed him with my bow. I tried to get on him in January but with the craze of the rut here I only caught sight of him another 3 times and all were way out of bow range. So with the hunting season over I spent 3 day and walked over 25 miles during the last week in April to find his sheds from this year. The sheds were laying just one tenth of a mile from each other and only about a mile from the spot were I missed my shot at this buck off a lifetime. However, his sheds are a find of a lifetime for me. Hope you all enjoy the photos.

This is a still from a video I took about 15 minutes before I missed him back in September.

Here is the matched pair sheds from the buck above. He broke a brow tine and a cheater on his right side. So he is missing about 9 or 10 inches.

Here I am holding the bucks 07 and 09 right side sheds. The 07 shed is missing the main beam about where the G4 is at.

Not a bad haul from the desert on my first serious shed hunt.

Here are the antlers you see in my pack from the 3 day hunt. I found a total of 14 sheds, 3 fresh, 1 matched set.

What Steve is saying is that he would love to put that buck on his next video. I would like to see it as well, That splitting dropper is too cool....

Looking at all those sheds, it's pretty easy to see they come from the same gene pool. Cool finds man-especially the hawg you've been tracking over the years. How about a picture this year with you holding them horns still attached to his dead head! Good luck

Congrats on a great find. And the younger double-drop buck might surprise you. He could really grow this year. That's a good spot you are hunting. Hope you stick the big buck this fall.

UPDATE!

First of all, thank you for the the great comments on my post. I really appreciate it.

After putting a tape to the antlers and measuring them a few times I came up with some preliminary scores. So I studied the videos I have of this buck and figured in is spread as close as possible to what he accually was. I came up with a 22 to 24 inch inside spread on this buck and outside is pushing 30 plus. However, I would like for everyone to take a look at the still below and give me a guess if you don't mind. This seems to be the best head on shot of him that I have. Even at that, it isn't much of a shot with it being right before dark.

According to the SCI record books I have, if I had harvested this buck back in September he would have potentially become the new #1 Non Typical Desert Mule Deer in New Mexico taken with a bow. I guess I will never know for sure. None the less, he would still qualify SCI, P&Y, and his sheds qualify for NASHC. Hope I get to try for him again this year!

Here is big buck squared up for my camera.
