Damn, I knew that sucker had some long points, but I'd guessed closer to 175-180. Sweet buck and thanks for posting the bruiser Manny. Did you get my phone message a few weeks ago? thanks

yah, I did, been so friggen busy (thank God) work wise, haven't had much time for myself...

but yah, I'm witcha my ears and eyes are open...........

was public land, its in the current issue of ca game and fish mag, i glanced at the article although i havent read the whole thing , as i recall the same guy got two nice bucks in pretty much the same area that being one of them, think they were both archery

oh yea..I did see that article..the other buck was a BIG nontypical. If he really shot those bucks on public, he's my hero. Those bucks look like they've been eating alfalfa:) Congrats to the hunter!!! Unreal CA bucks!

The buck was killed in Cool,Ca during archery season on

PRIVATE LAND.....

NICE BUCK COLEMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There aint much public land down in the oak trees where the pics were taken...at least in d5 anyways. Its all private cattle ground. Even if there was a tiny patch of public it would be the local beer drinkin...target shooting...four wheelin spot. I read the article, and I'm not buyin it.

Nice buck.

I am hearing a lot of rumors about deer feeding on private land in d5. But there are some big deer down low also.

I'd like to see more field pics. The ones above don't show much but judging from the tall dry grass I'd say it was down low in the foothills (private).
His other pics on CBH show him in the foothills, however, the deer are mounted and posed like field pics.
It doesn't bother me a bit if he killed them on private land. I'd like to have access in the foothills, nobody complains about taking turkeys on private land.
My only beef is if the hunter lies and claims to have killed them on public land.
I used to hunt D4 bordering Cool along the American River in the Auburn State Rec area. I haven't lived in that area for 15 years now and I drove through the Rec area last Christmas and it appeared as though it's not hunter friendly ( jogging trails galore and signs everywhere ) maybe someone from that area can enlighten me about the changes.

In the article in Ca Game and Fish mag, it clearly states that he killed on public land. And the pics show alot more background.....lots of oaks trees and such. I dont care if it was private, but I do care if he's trying to pass it off as public land. Nobody likes a liar.

I just checked online and it appears that the SRA still allows hunting. Soooo, it's possible that he took them in the foothills on public land.

>That's a toad! Hard to beat
>that one.

>Steve

He beat it with his Non- typical. Don't remenber which one scored higher but the mass on the non-typ is awesome. I'd prefer that one over this one regardless of score.

The non-typical that he arrowed in 2007 measured 195 0/8" net......and you're right it has some awesome mass. His typical (above) is the new state archery record, beating Buck Clements desert buck from D-12 back in the 80's.

Both of Coleman's bucks are awesome animals!

BOHNTR )))---------->

Note that the live field photos are close up so you can't tell location. The ones with background are mounted heads...Obviously the dude is not into sharing the exact location, as would be I. Awesome bucks anywhere, but public land in CA, AWESOME! Good job, dude!
