Unit 70 deer/elk

Hi guys, I just found out I drew deer unit 70 3rd season. Anyone know what I can expect from this unit during the 3rd season? Also, I was planning on buying an OTC elk tag with the same dates. Is the elk hunting in the unit any good or should I pass on the elk tag and focus on the deer?

You should have a good to great deer hunt. I'm no expert on 70 but the elk we saw were way high and the majority of deer were low.

Unlike most here I prefer elk but when I draw that tag, I won't mess with an OTC elk tag.

If ya got the time buy a 2nd season OTC elk tag. Hunt and scout for 3rd season deer. The deer do move between 2nd and 3rd season though.

I had 3 points I think. Good point about the scouting during the 2nd season. So if the deer are low, what kind of terrain are we talking about? Cedars & Oaks? Are the chances good for a 175+ deer with some work?
