Troutcrk, it is a sad story for mule deer in Oregon.

I was able to obtain the trend counts and computer generated population estimates for 2009. Here is the math:

Population statewide..........63% of management objective
Buck Population statewide.....60% of management objective

Given your name, I thought I would include the Trout Creek No's.

Trout Creek Population.......30% of management objective
Trout Creek Buck pop..........18% of management objective

Colorado has twice as many mule deer and 3 to 4 times as many bucks, yet will issue less tags than Oregon in 2009. I am still waiting for someone to explain the logic of that.

Scoutdog

scoutdog, there is no logic, The ODFW is only interested in revenue.

You would think that they would see the trainwreck that is coming straight at them but as of late they have not.

thank god we have more than one state managing the herds or we would be S.O.L.

Just since I've been hunting, (I'm 25 and started when I was 12) I've seen a huge decline in deer numbers just in the unit that my family has consistently hunted over the years. It's pretty sad to see the numbers the way they are and see the ODFW only cut tag numbers by a small percentage. I really hope a change will be made so my kids can grow up and enjoy QUALITY hunting experiences like I did.
