If you had to choose out of the Henry Mountains or the Arizona Strip which would you choose to hunt and why?

I am talking about here and now not 25 years ago!

Which would you rate as the best tag to have and why?

Do they have similar terrain to hunt?

Is one easier to hunt then the other?

Henry's. Hands down. Less pressure and more giant bucks. I am biased and have very little experience with the strip though.

Henry mountains.

I don't think there are bigger bucks there, but I think it's a relatively easy hunt for a big deer.

The strip holds a few of the biggest bucks in the world, but it's a tough area to hunt.

Henry Mountains......the Strip is just too darn easy! :) (joke)

Seriously, I think the Henry Mountains would be an awesome archery hunt that one could do on his/her own. The Strip is some BIG and thick country that has a low deer density. I used some help on my hunt and I was glad I did............fewer bucks on the Strip.......but the bucks you do see can be giants. JMO

did you see any deer on your hunt/scouting trips like the ones in the muleycrazy videos?

Hatch seems to find the gag factor bucks on the strip!

Archery is a year round commitment!!

Well, I'm not sure......definitely not anything close to 300"! But I did see some huge bucks, IMO.

Here's one I passed opening morning to get to the typical I was willing to arrow and ended up taking a few minutes later. We guessed this buck would gross around 200". These photos were taken by Kory and Garrett.

Here's another buck that I actually took a photograph of two days before the season opened.......this is a HUGE buck, IMO. I really wanted this buck, but he was just too far out of my comfort zone on opening morning......especially with the one I ended up taking a few yards closer to me.

Here's a live photo of the buck I ended up arrowing that Kory took a photo of.....a beautiful typical. Are they as big as the ones on MC videos......I'm not sure.....they were to me.

Those are all awesome deer for sure and congrats on getting that typical BOHNTR he's a stud of a buck!! That skylined buck is incredible too...I'd be scared to tape him as a straight 4x4 lol.

I've always thought from what I've seen that the strip bucks have the sickest trash and the henries having extremely heavy bucks...but I've never hunted either though :-(...just seen pic after pic after pic of giants come off both...:)

lol good luck with that one sw...let me know when you draw and lets go do some scoutin though for sure...

I'd take either, but I'd kidnap BOHNTR and take him with me.

Seriously, The Henrys. I just like that type country better and there are better densities. Don't get me wrong though, I certainly wouldn't pass up a Strip hunt.

I would take the Henry's tag right now for sure. Same reason as many others have already stated-density of deer is higher with MANY quality bucks to choose from. How can it get any better than that?

Good luck drawing a tag though :)

I would not complain if I had either tag. In my opinion it all depends on which unit you know better. The henries obviously has much better deer densities with great bucks. The strip on the other hand has very low densities with amazing bucks. Another factor to consider is strategy. Spot and stalk or sitting water. I feel the henries is more suited as a spot and stalk type of hunt, where as the strip many hunters choose to sit water. Personally I think it's a crap shoot. Myself, I would go with a strip tag.

I would have to vote for the strip. I waited 13 years but it was worth it!!! I saw a bunch of really good bucks including 1 that would net mid 90s. In 2 weeks up there I saw 36 bucks over 170. The one I took grossed 208 and had everything I wanted on a big mulehttp://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/User_files/4a31b21720651e27.jpgy of my dreams!!!

Have to agree with that one. There is nobody better then the Bundy's and Garrett.

I know this is a dumb question, but bear with me. Is the strip draw only for archery? I thought I remember someone saying it was over-the-counter for archery. I only say this because I'm assuming SW that you're planning on an archery hunt. IF by chance it was otc (again we're talking about archery), then henries without question because it would be an apples-to-oranges comparison. You could hunt the strip every year. The reason he said it was otc is the country is not very conducive to archery hunting-very open-very big-more like winter range country! I'm probably way out in left field here.

North of the Colorado River archery Arizona deer hunts went to a drawing beginning last year in 2008. No more OTC archery deer tags on the 13A portion of the Strip, as it had been previously.

Here is nonet's buck, you messed up the .jpg on it.

Awsome buck.

13B archery has never had it's own season......last year was the first ever. You used to be able to bowhunt 13A OTC until last year.

Nice thoughts sw....

Seeing as we could draw 13A bow buck more often than the Henry's bow buck.....OR -prolly 13b bow buck.....more frequently.....than the Henry's bow buck....

I would have to go with the Strip for bucks.
