The red sandstone ought to narrow it down to a few places. Must be the high water mark where he ended up. The rocks look like the fell there in an unnatural manner like its a damn or area below a road cut. Cold water to have preserved the buck so well with a winter hide. The magpies and ravens hadn't gotten to him so that is kinda strange. Other than that its just best guess. Flaming Gorge.

Don't know where, but the rock is wet right up to the buck. That indicates either waves or tides? Salt water?

The rocks are too orange for the Gorge, they are a deeper red up there. The rocks we are looking at here are typical Navajo Sandstone, which is very common throughout the Southwest, especially the Lake Powell area, so that gets my vote.

I'm sayin' somewhere down south. Maybe Lake Powell, but I'm going to go with the shores of the Colorado River near Moab.

water/rock color and i am going to have to go with lake powell.

Get your guesses in!!!! I'll post the location tomorrow (Friday) morning. Winner will get the GPS coordinates of the buck...so you can call the DWR.......... and ask permission........ to take your saw.....in your boat.....towed behind your truck......to drive hundreds of miles.....down to saw the horns off!!!!

Luckyshot you must be out looking at deer today or something. We,ve been waiting all morning to find out the location. I hope the deer you are looking at is going to be the next bad boy you're going to kill...lol

Is he sleeping or just sun bathing?

Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be back soon. He's probably just hacking some antlers off of a bloated buck...

Sorry I'm late guys. You guessed it though. I was out backpacking. Found a good buck this morning, although I got drenched!! Anyway, that buck was in Lake Powell in a canyon called Forgotten Canyon on the East side of the lake. Looks like many of you figured it out. My good friend, Trent Thornton was on a boating trip a few weeks ago and saw that buck laying there up on that rock just out of the water and snapped those photos. Your guess as to how it got there....what happened, etc is as good as mine. Pretty interesting though. Thanks for all the guesses.

The deer if probably under a 1' of water by now. I believe Lake Powell is still filling from this winters run off.
