I drew the hunt with 0 pts how lucky was that but i am looking for anyone who has any info on the unit. The one good thing is that it has sweet dates. Nov 1st - 15th any help would be appricated.
I've been eyeing this unit for some time in the future - looks like a great place with exceptional dates.
Would love to hear you're impressions after you've hunted it - hope you find a great buck. I drove through some parts of SE ID and SW WY last weekend and the vegetation is incredible this year - hopefully that translates in to very healthly deer and BIG antlers.
I know how you feel i had a muzzey elk planned this year i had max pts for the hunt and unit then some how. i did not draw i even went out and bought a new gun but i guess karma is on my side i think all states need to switch to the colorado system and make it fair.most pts draw weight your turn if you miss a year you are out just my two cents
I lived in Cody for almost 4 years in the early 2000's. This was my favorite area to scout. I drew the the tag once while I was there and made a mistake on a buck running away from me and shot a mid 160 deer. Was on a high 180 buck the morning before and it gave me the slip. I had scouted numerous big bucks before the season but they left the area right before season due to chasing does somewhere else.
This is a great hunt for 150-160 class bucks. Hunt hard and hold off a 180+ buck is a reality. If you want some more specific info e-mail me.
I know this is the muley deer thread but I have an elk question for the 119 deer unit. I have the unit 64, Nov. 1-15 elk tag this is the same area as 119 deer and same time. Have you seen any good bulls while deer hunting in years past.
I killed a 170" whitetail in this unit a few years back, best advice I have is get high and glass far, don't over look the lower desert part of the unit.
