I've been passing on 170's deer for the last 10 years, I've taken three.....

...and they have 10 openings.......for 170 class deer.....on private property.....aiming for 100% success, of course.....

I bet they see more like 20-30 % success on that goal.....

I also bet they sell most if not all of those hunts.....too sad...

No thanks.

man, that's alot of $. I'm spending that much for my AK Black Bear hunt next year, fully outfitted/guided....

Doesn't seem too out of line compared to other week long outdoor "adventures". Not for me but i could see somebody doing a hunt like that.

On the other hand, the same seller also has a Bull elk hunt near Gunnison Co. listed. High fence ranch, Up to 300" bull, 3-day hunt, no kill- no pay...$5000. Definitely, not for me!!

deosn't exactly say high fence just fenced, but if yah was gonna do that Saskatchewan has 350" bulls for that price...

Landowner tags are going for $2,500 to $4,000 so if that price includes the tag, which it says it does, then $2,000 for the outfitter is dirt cheap.

For someone who drew a blank during the various state draws, this might appeal to them. That is quite a bit of money in this economy though, at least for me. I'm afraid to spend much money right now. 170 bucks are dang nice bucks!

the old "supply and demand".... crazy to think there are people willing to pay that much money for a 170 class buck.

Dear Sir

Let me clarify my description, for 6,000.00 you would be harvesting a mule deer like the picture, that's a 170sci class mule deer. There are others bigger but the price goes up for a 175 - over 200sci class.
=============

I guess I'm just sick of mule deer being a commodity, I miss the old days when there was no trophy fees or whatever, I've only been on two guided hunts and they both stunk.

When I used to guide I never imposed any hidden fees for a bigger class deer....

he also has cow hunts for $1500 is a cow that hard to find...?

Maybe I'm old school, but if you have to pay that much for a guide to tell you where to point and shoot, it would be easier to just let someone else kill the deer, buy it from them after it was mounted, and tell you a great story you can pass on to your friends. IMO it's not nearly rewarding if you don't find stalk and HUNT the deer yourself. The only hunt I would pay for is for animals that I can't access or don't have the ability to scout...Bear, sheep, exotics, politicians etc.

So what if you don't have time to scout for mule deer?

What if you live on the eastern side of the U.S. and want to take a mule deer? Do you really think it's feasible to wait 3 or 4 years to draw a tag and then make a few trips across the country to do some scouting?

I agree, DIY on public is great, but not always the most economical and reasonable option. I do agree however that it completely sucks to have a kill fee on there for bucks over 175 or whatever it is. You should pay a flat amount and go hunt and take what you can.

the two times i hired a guide, one was in Colo and the other in Sask, and scouting time was a big factor in me hiring a guide, both said they did and both really didn't...

I am a stickler on scouting but kinda hard when it requires a two day driving time...

I guess if you were in another part of the country, you have a point there, I get used to having good hunting pretty much in my back yard, I might feel differently if the only place I could hunt for a certain animal was several states away. I just can't see myself enjoying it as much if I didn't do the leg work myself, but I don't fault anyone else for paying for a guided hunt, it's just not for me.

That hunt aint worth more than $4000 including the tag, but than again a hunt is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.There are probably more than a few guys with that kind of money laying around. All the power to them! At least they are being honest about the 170 potential. There are a lot of brokers pimping tags with the visions of 200 class bucks everywhere.
