...the deer back in my spot! Sorry about the poor (35mm) pics! I think this is the same group of deer I hunted last year. There was 10 deer in this group - 2 does and 8 bucks. 7 of the bucks were small and one was a 22" 3X4 with 2"+ G1's. There are actually 4 deer in the first pic, 2 are small bucks. There is a pond out to the left in the meadow and my blind is set up across from the camera back in the cedars. I can't wait for August 15th! Also seen a forked horn with a 24" 4x4 on the way in. I'm glad I decided not to work today! :)

That would be nice to take off work and have an eventful day. every time i take off work to screw off, i wind up blowing the day fixing things and never get out. by the end of the day i figure i should have just went to work!

Thanks for the pictures. I love seeing people scout thier area and then making it all come together during the season. fatrooster.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-08-09 AT 08:16AM (MST)[p]Last year when I hunted this, we hunted in September and it was hotter than a firecracker! The hunting was very tough and limited. I hunted this same area, only I had a blind set up right on the water (I decided to have 2 blinds this year - one on the water and one up on the edge of the cedars). Anyway, I would get set up in my blind around 6:00 pm and wait........the deer would finally start moving out into the open 15 to 20 minutes before dark. The deer would file out of the cedars, just like they are doing in the first picture and head down to water. This presented me shot opportunities on 3 different bucks - I passed on all 3 hoping to kill the bigger buck. The closest he got was about 75 yards before I completely ran out of light. I'm hoping the bigger buck is back, and I'm hoping the blind in the cedars will buy me a few more minutes of light. So yeah, I am confident these deer will be moving while it's light enough. I will be hunting the first week of the hunt this year, so hopefully things work out!
