Would you be willing to give up your Utah deer hunting rights forever if you could have a Henry Mtn rifle tag this year? What about money? What about a body part? Your new truck? How far would you go if it was auctioned off and it was the barter system?

Are you asking what we'd give for ONE year on the Henries? Or a Lifetime Tag?

I'd give them YOUR gun, YOUR woman, YOUR truck, and i'd throw in YOUR dog, but to me that tag isn't worth ME having to give up anything more than the cost of the thing.

I'll try to explain.....I'd rather go to another unit that has less potential, and bust my arse and shoot a 180"+ buck and be SUPER HAPPY, as opposed to going to the Henries and busting my arse and shooting a 180"+ buck and feeling like i shoulda coulda done better.

I would be more than happy go give up the 7 deer points I have acquired. Hell, I will even wait 5 years before I put in for deer again... ;-)

I cant decide, because I have waited 12 years so far to hunt it and I am sure that it could be more tha 5 years before I finally draw it. Yet I am happy that I can hunt the general season every year and Colorado every year as well. Its just good to be able to hunt and thats what matters.

I like Tag's reply...Good one bud! :)

But, if i had a chance of a rifle tag in that unit, would make my year regardless of what else happened or what else i killed. I couldn't give up much other than what i need because that's about all i have, but... I could put together a few firearms, collectible fishing rods, some bitchen boxed hundred year old bass plugs, along with a grand or so in cash, to have a go at a once in a lifetime opportunity at a monster buck.

Suppose i could do that much anyway but then again, i'm hunting a good LE in Wyoming this year, i'll spend the grand hunting, get a nice lope in the deal, AND get to keep my neat old stuff for a rainy day. :)

I'd give up CABugle's other testicle and his dog and truck.

I wouldn't give up much, but I don't subscribe to the belief that I would be better off with a lesser tag because of the pressure of a Henry's. I would love the challenge.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-09 AT 08:04PM (MST)[p]No, my point being; i wouldn't have to give up anything to hunt in another unit.

I would love the challenge of hunting the Henries, and most likely would pass on a 180" buck down there, but that seems like an awful lot to give up( trucks, toes, wives, 2 kids and some dogs) just to hunt it for 1 year???.

My book says not worth giving anything up.

I'll wait til i'm drawn.

Just let me know when you do it so I can get a tag for next year and I will give you a couple grand also

LAST EDITED ON Jul-09-09 AT 09:42PM (MST)[p]I'll give up all the testicles of you folks from Utah! This site might calm down alittle then! Way to much testostrone coming out of that state! Heck I even heard Barry Bonds was moving there!

I'd give up ever hunting muley's in utah again for a tag.

i can and do hunt other states every year, so no big loss.

WOW lots of different angles here. I would give up mule deer hunting in Utah for the rest of my life. I was born and raised there, but I don't think I'll be back. As long as I can still shoot my Manti bull and Odgen moose when I eventually draw those tags. Until then I'll keep chasin' deer elk and lopes here in god ol Montana.

I'd give up my penis, testicles and pride for a Henry's tag....if I could safely sneak them out of my wifes purse!!!

All the testosterone from Utah is just trying balance the massive loads of estrogen seeping out of Idaho.

+1 to Tag and Andy - true stuff!

If I were really interested in hunting the Henry Mt.'s, I would give up the cost of the application fee for however many years it took me to draw, that's it.

I'd be careful what you wish for. You may not be getting ANY ChubbyTuna if she reads this post!!

+2 to Tag and Andy!!
Good question.... I'm not sure what I would give to get the tag but I know what I would give if I had the tag..I'm pretty sure I would have to quit my job and dedicate that year to finding the one!!

15 points & waiting for an archery tag.The only problem is I'm a NR and I'll probebly die before I draw!

Absolutely nothing, because I get to go with the guy who has the sportsman tag. I just enjoy being with friends and watching their success. I'm looking forward to September.

Is it safe to say that more legit 200" deer were shoot on the henry's last year than any other state? I was watching the MossBack Show on the pursuit channel a couple nights ago and they shoot 4 over 200", Troy Justinson's Hunter killed a 230" monster, The sportman tag holder killed a 250" somethin, I've seen 3 in the last couple months of Huntin Fool over 200" off of there, and there was that monster archery typical posted on here.. Thats just the ones that got leaked out. I bet there is multiple more shoot that the hunters just did not care to post pictures, put in magazines, etc.

So we know of 10 for sure, I would guess atleast 12 or 13 probably got killed on the Henry's last year. Did any other state as a whole even come close to that?? We are talking Legit official B&C 200"

If ten big ones got killed on permits another 20 bit the dust by other "MEANS" from what I hear the poaching is pretty bad on the mountain alot of bodies of bucks was found without heads.

I would think that if a guy was to spend a month on that little hill he could catch one guy and get his tag for the next year.

Just food for thought for all those retired guys.

+1 Kachta and +10 Gator

IDFG told me today that for every 1 legally taken buck in Idaho, 3-6 are poached. It is way worse than I thought.

Think I would rather have a desert bighorn tag anywhere, even a crappy one, than a Henry's deer tag. After al, it is still a deer hunt, and you can hunt deer every year. You can get really lucky and run into a monster on even an OTC hunt. Odds are most will never get to hunt desert sheep ever.
