I am from Colorado and my family spent our vacation around 4th of July up near Pinedale. We enjoyed the lack of people we usually experience in Colorado. The country was unlike anything I had experienced before because it was glacially shaped, they lakes were huge. While looking for sheds in the sage brush I almost stepped on a fawn. Wish I hadn't forgotten my camera.

Anyway, big mountains. How are the deer doing up there and how is the hunting? I know non-residents must have guides for National Forest land so just curious.

Also made it to Jackson hole, reminded me of Aspen, big money from out of state! To bad, neat place. That Hoback canyon country is some of the best looking hunting country I have ever seen.

Luckyhntr- You only need a guide in the wilderness areas, the deer hunting is not so great in my opinion, vast country with limited deer, the winds are big mountains with lots of cover, I live in pinedale and don't deer hunt there, and I love high country hunting, the hoback country is pounded by deer hunters horse hunters, backpack hunters ect. too many over the counter tags sold. I can't wait to draw Colorado again, I would say for the most part Colorado has better deer hunting.
