I'll be honest I suck at scoring deer and elk. Maybe those of you that know what you're doin can help me out. My goal is to kill something 160" or better. I think that this buck is at least that good. How bout you guys?

I think he will meet your goal.

rowdy,

I'm no pro but I think at least 175-180 gross.

Outstanding buck!!!

This must be a trick question because he's had 4 years to grow since the date on the photo. Or maybe somebody forgot to set the time/date.

Oh ya, don't mind the date on the photo. The camera is just a cheapy and it won't set correctly. I pulled these photos off this morning, 8/6/2009. I had it set up for about a week. This is a Utah deer.

Has great fronts. He's at least 160. I think more like 170. Needs more tine length in the back to make 180. Very good looking "boxy" rack-put him down!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-06-09 AT 10:24PM (MST)[p]I will go with 165 + or - using the ear scoring method.
Very nice deer!

Don't die dreaming
DIE TRYING!

Very nice respectable buck. however I must disagree with everyones scoring and call it a 155ish buck.

You would definitely meet your goal with that buck. He will score over 170".

Great G-4's and nice main beams. With about 20" inside spread, not a overly large mainframe, i'd put him in the mid 160's.

Tuff to tell from pic's and he may still grow some. If he's a young buck, he has very nice genetics!!

I agree with sageadvice. He has a narrow spread credit. I think low 160's unless he has put an inch or two on but it looks like he's topped out for the most part.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-07-09 AT 09:46AM (MST)[p]I'd guess mid to upper 160's. Good buck...like others have said he looks on the young side to me, might be a true giant in a year or two.

Awesome fronts, pretty average backs and good eyeguards. I think this buck goes 170 for sure. My Dad killed a high 160's buck last year on the book cliffs that had a little smaller fronts, but better backs, so I really think you are at 170 on this guy!! Shoot him and let us know.

I would put him in the low 160 range also. He has great tine lenth but his width is hurting him.

165 tops......good fronts but week backs and fairly narrow.

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

You guys are gettin me excited! Thanks for all your input. I think this deer wants to be friends with me. He laid down in front of a different cam for over an hour and revealed a little bit more about himself. In a few years this buck could have a double dropper on his right side. Maybe I'll have to pass him up this year.

If you tell me where he's at, I will go measure him and tell you his score in 5 days...LoL!

Great buck, but would be a hard one to pass if your goal is 160"! If you are in a good area that you KNOW gets almost no pressure, I would pass him and wait for those drops to develop. But if you are serious about your goal of 160", you will let us know his official score next Monday!

Good Luck and be sure to share your story/pix if you decide to go after him!

i think that the main beams are bigger than they look as well as the mass id say mid 170's great buck good luck
