Does anyone have any info on the area around Zortman for antlerless deer? Their would be three of us going over with both buck and doe deer tags and was curious about the area. We have hunted south of their but never this far north. I have been reading that the roads get extremely bad once they get wet and was also curious if you could travel the roads with an atv if it rains? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The gumbo mud there is about the worst I've ever seen in my life when it gets wet. We elk hunted in the Missouri Breaks back in the late 90s, and were advised to either get back to pavement, or be prepared to stay there until it dried out if we got caught in a big rain. It rained one day and we got to the truck and made it to the highway. Some other guys we were camped near didn't heed that advice, and we found their truck the next day (it was a short rain and dried out enough quickly) with all 4 wheel wells completely filled with mud. The three of them had spent a very cozy but cold night sitting in the cab of the truck.

A quad MIGHT be able to get around, but I don't know. I'd plan on walking if it got very wet. And I'd carry a stick to knock the mud off my boots!
