I really can't tell??? I think I need to see this buck in the wild to get an accurate measurement, so if you can give me his location, gps cordinates work, I will make sure to check him out, and give you an accurate score.

Easy 200" buck, thanks for posting.

Got them from a guy I know. He is related to the guy hunting this buck. He had a shot at the buck on opening morning and missed. He is still hunting him. I'll let you know if he takes him.

The 3x4 next to him also has some genes going for him. Look at the tine protruding from the forehead area.

Looks like a decent buck or am I seeing things.

OK HJB, I know the kid that is hunting him. Was wondering if you was him or not, I shoot bows with him at the rod and gun club in the winter months. I hadent herd if he had gotten him or not though.

Keep waitin for a text myself, Uncle W text me a pic prior to the hunt. I sure hope he gets him.

I live right by his Uncle and he keeps me updated and he sent me the pics. I really hope this kid sticks this buck, he has worked hard hunting that area and he deserves it. There are already some landowners trying to screw him over and get the buck on other properties. It's a mad house out there, so hopefully all goes well. One land owner is trying to get a hold of the Goveners tag holder, and charge him a $10,000 trespass fee.
This kid better get'r'done quick, before MossBack gets word or the poachers see it from the road.

Would any of you even return the call if you had the Governor's tag and saw the pics?

I wouldn't. What a waste that would be.

I would shoot this buck over that Sportmans tag buck off the henries any day. That one that went over 40 wide and had no good forks, just trash all over the place.
This buck has a very nice main frame, he has cool cheaters, and he will stretch the tape over 30 inches. What more could you want in a buck? I would for sure take a look if I had a sportmans tag. If I paid over $100,000 for the gov tag, i would take a look too. I really like this buck.

I will take a buck on the henry mountains over that field deer any day. thats just my opinion. big bucks should be earned by huntin tough country not field stalkin or field bedding area ambushing. If you have never been down on the henrys and seen a truly big buck. You are missing out.

i realize the kid is only 17 but it does not account
for the bad call on a 120yd shot when the deer is on
private property. IMHO.

Great post hogg_65.

I'm not afraid to call that buck 220 plus. Its just too bad he doesn't live in some wild-azz country.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-09 AT 02:22PM (MST)[p]Dam that's just a straight up hog of a deer He can always be measured once he hits the ground. He's way over 200"

i saw him a week ago he was the most awsome thing that i have seen and he is just outside of __________ cant wait.

Yet last year HJB, you were criticizing people for "field" hunting. I guess its ok to hunt the fields if there is monsters in them huh?

So, a 200" 'field deer' taken with a bow isn't as rewarding as hunting the Henrys and killing the same caliber buck with a rifle while it has it's nose up a does ass during the rut?

Incredible buck! I hope the kid sticks it.

"This kid better get'r'done quick, before MossBack gets word or the poachers see it from the road."
Maybe you shouldn't be posting pics on the WWW if your worried about competition. I hope your friend does let the air out of him though, he's a beauty.

Being in a "field" has nothing to do with it, the post was made because it's a huge buck. I personally don't hunt fields, and I never will. I like hunting them in their "Natural" habitat, and the satisfaction is much greater that way.
But there's still no problem with saying a buck in a field is a "Big" buck. Thanks for checking up on me anyway buddy :)

It seems this post has created quit a stir. I didn't think by posting this picture up everyone could tell the exact location of where this buck is. The land owner contacted me today and just about blew a gasket when hunters were lined up at his door asking for permission to hunt this bad boy. I would remove the pictures but it's too late for that, and it wont let me edit the post.
So to all of you that keep bugging this poor guy, LEAVE HIM ALONE! It's his land and obviously he doesnt want all these guys on his land. Quit trespassing and harassing this landowner please. I thought you guys could just sit back and respect a beautiful buck, but instead you had to track down the property and insist hunting another mans land. Let the guy and his family try and harvest this buck that they have worked so hard patterning and scouting out.
Thanks,
HJB

some of you guys blow my mind. A "field Buck". A big buck is a big buck. If your not willing to hunt a field to shoot a buck like that then you need to lay off the drugs

Hi there i am the kid hunting this buck and ya the buck is bout like the littler one you can see.

hi i am the kid that shot and i know there thousand storys going around but i will just say this he wasnt 120 yards when i shot.

So you're saying you wouldn't shoot this buck because he is in a field? BS. Keep talking, "buddy". What do you consider natural habitat? That deer probably was born in that field, it doesn't get any more natural than that for him.

Public Land DIY hunt for a 200 inch buck would be more rewarding than anything in my opinion. If I had a choice to take a deer of the same caliber on private or Public land, I would choose public hands down. What kind of question is that anyway???

RE: Hey jsl

If you think hunting in a field is easy and its not as much of a trophy you may be right if its shot with a gun.But archery is diffrent or that buck would be dead by now if it was that easy.

RE: Hey jsl

Hey JT, its to bad you had your buck blown up on the world wide web like this. Just go put an arrow in him and post a pic up on here. Good Luck buddy.

I wouldn't shoot a buck in a field because I don't hunt fields. Shooting a buck in a field just wouldn't do it for me. It's like hunting in someones backyard. The fields provide food for the deer, so you know where they will be every morning and evening. The are easily patterned, and all you have to do is drive your truck out in the field and wait for them to step out of the corn rows.
I prefer hunting the mountains, hiking my butt off, and glassing for hours. That's what I like to do, and I'll stick to it. That's just the way I like to hunt. It's secluded up there and it's the same as it was 1,000 years ago. Believe it or not, corn fields were actually planted by a person and have not been there forever. The deer are drawn to fields because of the food. It's not thier "natural" habitat.
I don't care if you hunt a field, I'm just saying I prefer the mountians. Ok "Buddy"? To each thier own

RE: Hey jsl

hey jsl is was not trying to stir any chit
your father was the one who told me your
shot was 120. when i helped them load your
mothers elk up. congrats to your mother
i really hope you get the buck everyone wants
one like that no matter what anyone says.
good luck. have fun.

RE: Hey jsl

Hjb, below are a few of your comments. Either you have multiple personalitys or cant make up your mind? A big buck is a big buck. it doesnt matter if your hunting them in a field, or on the freaking moon.

"Wish I was hunting this buck, but I'm not."

"I personally don't hunt fields, and I never will. I like hunting them in their "Natural" habitat, and the satisfaction is much greater that way."

P.S. How do you know the satisfaction is much greater if you have never hunted both ways?

RE: Hey jsl

o i know your not and it was actuall my dads elk but thanks i hope to get him.

RE: Hey jsl

jsl/Hjb have the same ip address on a few replys I guess they share a computer together,If the kid kills this buck he can sell the horns and buy himself one.

Whatever dude, given the chance, myself and probably everyone on this forum, would shoot that buck in a second. If its so easy why is this buck still alive? In all the years of hiking your butt off and glassing for hours have you come across an area that has an abundance of browse for the deer, a place where they feed everyday? What about bedding areas? Watering holes? If you find a place like this in the hills can the deer be patterned the same as they can in a field? As far as the corn not being there forever, forever is relative. I'm sure that corn has been there years longer than that buck and his buddies have, they know where its safe, escape routes, where to bed and get a drink, the same as mountain bucks do.

I'm curious as to what weapon you hunt with, if "the way it was a thousand years ago" is what it is about for you, I hope you have a good supply of sharp rocks.

RE: Hey jsl

no hjb dont even live in same city as me. my uncle just sent him pic of the buck.

RE: Hey jsl

Looks to me like this deer's natural habitat is some guy's pasture. I would shoot him and never feel bad about even for a second. JMHO.

I have been to fields with big bucks in them and it just seems wierd hunting a corn field with grandma watching out the front window and grandpa feeding the horses 100 yards away.
I did say "I wish I was hunting this buck" and I do, but I just don't like hunting in cultivated fields. It seems like Whitetail hunting to me and I just don't like that type of hunting. I would love to see that buck in the mountains and put a stalk on him. Like I said before, fields just don't so it for me. Why is that a crime?
And what the Hell are you talking about "We have the same IP address????????" I don't think so.
You guys stick to grandpas private pasture and I'll keep applying for the Henries.
