LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-09 AT 10:43AM (MST)[p]I shot this buck on the second day of the hunt on public land, I spotted him and two other really nice bucks that morning but I wasn't able to close the deal, so I went back to the same spot that evening, found them and I was able to get above them. I stuck him at 54 yards with a 100 grain Grim Reaper in the lung and heart, he only ran 20 yards and dropped dead.

Great Buck Riley. It was fun seeing you and Tony up on the Mountain. Beautiful country and area. I have to post the pics of the buck I got from up there Friday morning.

Great buck... I hate bein reminded of past hunts, but last year at (down south) I stalked a big heavy boy looked just like him... only 3 on one side like the main beam is missing... Anyway, it didn't come together, but Congrats to you!!!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-09 AT 04:37PM (MST)[p]hey I know exactly where you were hunting and where you had your tent, you had to 4 wheeler in and pitched your white tee pee tent. Just wanted to talk to you about that deer and if by chance your not telling the whole story about it and that it might have been shot already?????? I know you shot it sunday night and know the patch of aspens to the north of where you were camped.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-09 AT 05:20PM (MST)[p] if by chance
>your not telling the whole
>story about it and that
>it might have been shot
>already?????? I know you shot
>it sunday night and know
>the patch of aspens to
>the north of where you
>were camped.

The only thing that I know he left out of "the whole story" was he was using a Carbon Express Mathews Edition arrow. And it was not shot to the north of camp. No other holes besides the one caused by the grim reaper lodged in bottom of the brisket after ripping through the vitals. Maybe the nick in the right ear? No that nick was aleast a year old.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-24-09 AT 05:31PM (MST)[p]Or the fact that he shot from the road after it was already hit, as we watched him drive around the road there and even yelled if he had seen the deer and low and behold it went silence after. Hey as long as he can sleep at night and ever time he see's that deer on the wall knowing that another man arrowed it, hey its all good right. But of course his story of how he hunted it and got up on it sounds so much better for the readers than how he was road hunting. I do understand. Guess I could always tell all where you were so next year there will be 50 guys up there, lol,. Wont be such good road hunting then, but more time to read his book.

You started the story at chapter 2. Here's how chapter 1 went: 5:30 on 8/16 I spotted the bucks you mentioned in the trees. Stalked on hands and knees for 30 minutes before I could get a 40 yard shot off. Hit him square on the right side behind his front quarter at 6:03. I know because I checked my watch and was going to give him 1 hour before going after him. I recognize your mug because you were buddied up with your friend on the 4 wheeler circling the patch of quakies. You showed up about 6:40 when I started looking for blood. I was the tall guy you saw in the trees blood trailing this deer. Our stories are similar in that my gps coordinates of the last blood pool we could find would most likely be where you shot him and he bolted (consistent with your 50 yards from the road claim). That would explain why after an hour of the blood trail only getting better, it disappeared. I never did find my arrow so it may very well have still been in him. You don't have to admit that it was shot but to prove I am the one that drew blood first, it was a Victory VForce arrow, V3 350=60/75 with a muzzy 100 grain broadhead. You might as well keep that too and hang it under your wall mount. Oh, and between us friends, you were hunting/camping on S.M.??? I'll be sure to stop and say hello next year when I roll through your camp.

nah it wont be fun or amount to anything more than him denying it. Its done and happened and he can pretend it did'nt and tell all the far fetched stories he wants on how he found this great deer and got up above it and so on, but hey if you can kill a (wounded) buck like that from the road and fill good about telling tall tails hell have at it. I am sure his wife thinks he hunted his ass off, and walked for miles. But cant figure out why he has a sore thumb?? (from 4 wheeler)

Wow! Some people will stoop to the lowest of lows to get attention!

CRAZY STUFF!!!

Congrats Riley on YOUR hard earned buck. I was hunting with dxthunter and I can say that it was his fair and square! To those faceless cowards that hide behind their computers and spout off about hitting the buck first, where were you on the mountain? Too chicken to confront us on the mountain?? When Riley came into camp late sunday night with the head/cape, and the front quarters we exchanged high 5's, & took some pictures. The next morning we went to finish boning out his back quarters and I can assure you (huntndad & bigddj), not only was it Rileys arrow that killed that buck, your supposed hit behind the right shoulder is NOT true one bit. I saw the fully skinned carcass and the only hole in that buck was in between his neck and left shoulder. The shot Riley took was a frontal, slightly quartering to his right. Also for your information, half of RILEYS carbon express maxima hunter (the front half with the grim reaper broadhead) was still stuck in his brisket as we were boning him out. As for your remark on hunting the roads off 4 wheelers, that couldn't be further from the truth. Yeah we ride up the mountain on our wheelers, and haul our camp up with us, but that's where it ends. We walk from there. In fact if you (huntndad & bigddj) are who I think you are, don't mix us up with yourselves! One of you had to ride your wheeler out side saddle (like a GIRL rides a horse) because you broke the left tire or axle off (probably from riding the roads so much just like last year)! YOU CLOWNS HAVE GOT SOME NERVE!! Fellow mmer's, believe who you want, but I can attest that dxthunters version is legit. Only one hole in that buck-Rileys. Great job bud on a hard earned trophy!

Nate

i think you guys are both lying. i saw the whole thing while i was bowhunting from the back of my truck with my rifle. you probably seen me. its the big A truck with the big A stickers on it. lol

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-09 AT 06:47AM (MST)[p]Well Mathewswoman or man my bad, well first off you are wrong about "us clowns" for starters as we are Fred and Barney and yes all the MMers out there have there own minds and will believe what they will. but hard to take your word, a man who spent about a week in a tent far up on a dark mountain alone, I am guessing might of even had some broke back bowhunt mountain moments with dxthuntr, hey but to each there own. It happened, its a great deer, but for hell sakes at least next time he posts dont maked up some story, just tell it how it is. Even if its cripple or laying on the ground. ( but the only ran 20 yards after hit) makes for good read, even thought left out the part how only ran 20 yards after hit because he was bled out already, lol

Fred why didn't you confront him on the mountain? If you thought that was your deer and saw him take it you should have spoke up.

Well spoonful reason being is it was barney that shot it sunday night and we left after dark, then monday morning went back up to search. It never really became and issue until around 10am monday as I drove out of the area past there camp and the deer was on his wheeler and for some odd reason after few minutes when barney drove past the deer was hiding. As Honest hunters we never figured anyone would do something of that nature and as you know when you have a deer in your sights either just looking at it or shooting at it you know that deer, what it looks like, hows its forks are everything. And the biggest reason was he shot another 4x4 so at the time it was done and over and only after reading his post and made up story of how he took it did it come to surface again. So hope that explains little reasoning of why there was not mountain top confrontation.

Boy (huntndad & bigddj) you guys have got alot of nerve to come on here and spout off a bullsh!t story like that. That deer wasn't killed anywhere near where your claiming it was nor was he killed off the road like you say. Oh and the part about us road hunting is laughable, ya I'm going to pack a camp 8 miles to the top of the mountain so I can road hunt, believe me if I was going to road hunt I would stay in my nice camp trailer at the bottom of the mountain and drive up everyday like you guys do, "assuming you are who I think you are". Also, if you watched me shoot your deer then why didn't you come and confront me on the mountain. You should get your facts straight before you go accusing somebody of shooting your deer, you've got the wrong guy and the wrong deer.

So Fred, Barney shot this deer sunday night and you guys left at dark, but at 10 am monday morning Barney already had a 4x4 down. I guess my question is when did you and Barney look for the first deer he alledgedly shot?

well if you can read and seen the other posts the first deer was hit sunday aorund 6pm so plenty of time in between at least where we hunt, dont know about where you hunt

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-09 AT 08:00AM (MST)[p]Dont get your panties in a bind dxthuntr it is what it is, live with it and deal with it.. its over and done!!!! And if were not truth behind it I dont think you would be so upset about the truth be told, more so would be laughable.. Just my opionion

laters And for all you that want this prime location stay tuned and I will let you know exactly with a gps location to boot. Just Make sure to say hello to dxthuntr and all next year as you cant miss there camp.

Yes in fact I can read. And barney shot the deer at 6:03(because he checked his watch) and at 6:40 he was yelling at someone for trailing his deer. And instead of getting off his fourwheeler and walking down and confronting this guy he left at dark. Then he shot another deer. Thats the short version of your story.

Because Fred is mistaking this exceptional buck with one he seen off the road. And I know he watched someone else chase his so called "right shoulder hit" deer in the tree's.
My suggestion is Fred should really find out who really went after his buck. Instead of making an accusation that this is his buck. Riley and I were approximately 600 yds to the south of where you claim the buck was shot. And if he was shot in the "right shoulder" he would have never made it 600 yds.
Fred tell me this; what kind of 4 wheeler did you see? The reason I ask is because all our wheelers were parked at camp until Tuesday when we went to use the Big Eyes on top of the mountain. I would like to get to the bottom of this because right now you are making a mockery of a great memory in a man's victory.
I would ask that you or Barney send a PM to myself, dxthuntr or mathewsman (we were all there)and we can sort out who went after the buck you seen. We seen a few hunters hunting in the quakies you mentioned. Maybe it was the cali's on the side by side Polaris Ranger? Or if it was not you guys riding the broken axled 4 wheeler maybe the chased your deer.

Let's all meet at tgi's and talk about this ill buy dessert. Make sure huntindad show's up sound's like he needs a big tall glass of shut the f@$#k up.

tall glass of shut the f up , nice and your the small shot of steal a mans bear and call self a taxidermist.. oh yeah its jimmy time...lets go there!

Maybe you didn't read the post's on that issue smart guy the bear was never stolen the bear was never claimed buy the client the judge ordered him to pay me. The fact is dont beleive everything you read on these post's. YOU ARE THE SPOON THAT STUR'S THE POT HUNTINFAG. GET A LIFE

I know more than you think about the case "smarter guy" the fact that you claimed you sold the bear yada yada and the fact that you went in with tail between legs and judge asked you if you had bear yada yada and ordered it returned and ordered you be paid for the work that was done, so lets get the facts straight as i sat in on the hearing pal.. and this is not the place for you to be flirting with me, trying to get down my camo with the huntingfag thing, keep your closet life in the closet it might help you get some taxi business..

This sure turned nasty quickly. I often disagree with people on internet forums over real issues, such as wildlife management, but I never get into a pissing matches on web sites over personal issues like this. The name calling and immaturity is pathetic. Grow up.

Wacmaster wasn't honest about who he was, said he sold the bear (which he didn't) and said the judge ruled in his favor. That's three strikes Jimmy ...you out! lol I was respectful Hawkeye ..not one name calling in there!

This one sounds alot like an ordeal last year in wyoming. Did anyone get kicked in the face by a horse? J/k Founder :)

Hey Nate, I agree 100% with you. I was there all week too and saw Riley's buck with just "one Hole". if it was shot from the trail or road, then that is one hell of a shot as it was over a 1/4 mile form any ATV trail or road. You, Tony, and Riley are all great hunters and never road hunt that mountain. It's Damn near impossible to do that anyways. The only time I saw you guys on your machines was comin down from the tip top after some glassing or removing tree stands. How did the rest of your hunt go by the way?? We headed out Saturday morning with just my 4x4.

I Laugh everytime i read your post's. You sat in on the hearing unless your a bernet a 5 ft 5 inche's weighing about 200 pds i call b.s again you must be a realitive of his or his fatherinlaw sucks for you. Why don't you lend him the money he didn't have it then and he still dosen't have it now 15 day's left. As for utahelk i think your just a freind of his tryin to save his name too late for that.

I'll weigh in here. I wasn't able to continue with the blood trail any longer as it was getting dark. Back up on the mountain before daylight Monday to pick up the trail. Back on the trail for another 30 to 45 minutes before it disappeared. Just like I wrote. Other deer wasn't down until after leaving the mounain. I didn't see the deer in the camp or I would have stopped to chat with your friend. I hollered out for help only at dark after listening to this fellow and his buddy chat and giggle for an hour while I was blood trailing the deer. I was hoping they would be able to help me. Only to have them clam up.

Enjoy the kill & congratulations.

I suppose I'll respond to all these. No, wasn't me riding sidesaddle. Not being tough behind the computer either. It is what it is.

Congratulations on the hunt.

No BS, no story. I know when I shot this deer and I know when the 4-wheeler came by with two riders. I know you saw me on the far end of the quakies when you tunred around and went back to the other side. Certain there was nobody else near there than night and I can show you the blood trail I was on.

Congratulations on your kill.

All good points. I've weighed in, never threw out names, and I'm done with this site. Enjoy everyone!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I was 'bout to say....... Ha ha ha ha!

And i thought the post was about a buck....now its a bear?

mike

This is last thing I will post regarding this subject as we all know that he will deny to the end and so be it. But after reading most the posts and seeing all his buddy's stick up and state they seen the deer and no hole present I found a post that adds a little hmmmm to there story, its says something about he couldnt of been road hunting as he had to pack the deer out and packed the head and cap out only and went back and got the quarters that were 1/4 mile away. So just thinking about all those that say they seen the deer, I am sure they did after it was caped out and not a whole deer as they make it sound like. Any of you that know how to cape a deer and quarter know how easy it would be to well lets say cut out a whole from another arrow. And hell 1/4 mile to leave rest over night up there in the aspens that are so easy to walk and very little climb involved is a pretty lazy mans thing to do, that is unless its no the total truth of the story.. And to finish I am sure the law states you must pack out the meat before the trophy part of an animal ( meaning the cap) but that is neither here nor there. Well anyways congrats on your deer, and hell it might not of been a fatal hit prior to your robin hood shot that dropped him in 20 yards but at least be man enough to say something. Oh and to the buddy of his that wanted to know why he never called for help to pack it out because you owed him, hell no need when can back a 4 wheeler right to it, lol

No need to send endless replies as I am DONE!!

Happy Hunting

Just got home from work and let me say, I am LIVID! Broke mountain huh-huntndad & bigddj, I suggest you both be VERY careful about the slanderous remarks you make (on a public forum like this) in an attempt to defame myself, dxthntr, and others involved or the next time you hear from me will be through my lawyer! First off, I am happily married of 12 years to a beautiful, great wife and together, we have 5 kids, so take your "broke back" comment and SHOVE it! Second, this whole mess could have been avoided if you would have just asked us and told us your end of the story ON THE MOUNTAIN where it could have been resolved in a CONSRUCTIVE "adult" manner. We have/had NOTHING to hide! I KNOW Riley would have gladly taken you to where HE killed the deer and showed you everything. Then you cuold have easily seen that HIS buck was different than the buck you hit. Look, I have no doubt your story is 100 % true other than it being the same buck. It HAD to be a different buck! As you well know, there are alot of big 3 by 4's up there. Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, the deer you hit was a different buck? As I said, I personally saw the head/cap, front quarters, and the fully skinned carcass-there was only one hole in the buck. I was the one that dug the other half of Riley's carbon express, maxima hunter, mathews edition, grim reaper tipped arrow out of his brisket. The trauma caused by an arrow hit is EASILY identifiable. Why, why, why, didn't you talk to us on the moutain?? I wish you would have! Sadly, you have turned Rileys accomplishment into a total mockery. Maybe someday kharma will come back to bite you my friend(s)! Maybe someday you will be on the other end of someones false remarks and accusations. I am sorry you didn't recover your deer-he was probably a dandy as there are a few running around up there, but to take away from someone elses hard work, and good fortune is LOW CLASS! You 2 are LOW CLASS! Tell you what, huntndad & bibddj, feel free to pm me ANYTIME so we can resolve this like men. I would like to talk with you both face-to-face, civilly. But if you make any more rude remarks (like you already have), all bets are off!

Nate

p.s. Sneaky hunter, great job on a stud of a buck! I'd share a mountain with you guys any day.

well nate thanks for your heart felt message and sorry if you took the broke back mountain comment personal but go back and read as it was really never directed at anyone (unlike your name calling) more of a suggestion of what could of been, sorry again it is a sensitive subject with you as I shouldnt assume what goes on under a zipped tent. I was almost brought to tears with your last message and I was done with this but just thought I would let you know how much you moved me.

Once again take care and happy hunting

Holy Shi## !! Can all you guys tell me where you hunt so I can make shure I never hunt there?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-26-09 AT 09:55AM (MST)[p]Maybe it was

Nate:

I would like to apologize for the possible misunderstanding. Yes there are more than a few deer on this mountain that look like this and it is very possible this is not the deer I shot.

Congratulations on your harvest.

nice buck Riely that place looks familiar maybe. Does it let me know congrats

CHAD W

Your remember how to get there Chad? I have seen or heard from you in a while. I keep hoping you might come to the old stompn grounds again!

Tony

finally got my LE elk tag been spending all my time with that. But i was down there last year on the muzz hunt.I sure enjoy that place. Glad to see you guys have had some luck

CHAD W P.S GOOD TO HERE FROM YOU

OH I FORGOT WHAT YOU GUYS DOING CLAIMING SOME POOR GUYS DEER.

LOL SOUNDS LIKE SOMEBODY IS TYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR HIMSELF

CHAD W

TONY DO I KNOW THESE TWO CRAZYS TALKING SHI ABOUT RIELY. ITS SOME FUNNY CRAP. ARE THEY AWARE THE HE HAS TAKEN SEVERAL NICE BUCK AND HE WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN BY LAYING CLAIM

I DONT REMEMBER SEEING THEM, BUT THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE RUNNING THE TYPICAL RIDE FROM THE BOTTOM. WE RAN INTO THE WOLF'S PARTY. THEY ARE STILL A GOOD BUNCH OF GUYS. THE QUAKIES THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT IS OVER WHERE YOU ALWAYS HAD YOU TREE STAND AND RILEY SHOT HIS RIGHT WHERE THE ONE I KILLED IN 96 DIED.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-09 AT 00:02AM (MST)[p]Bigddj,

Thanks for the apology, but Riley (dxthntr) is the one that it needs to be directed to. Takes a big man to say sorry, and to that point, I would also like to apologize to the mm community for what has happened on this post. Our pissing match has brought down a great website over a simple misunderstanding. As I'm relatively new to this, I am learning that this is what private messaging is all about. I won't beat the dead horse anymore. What's done is done-lesson learned. Great job Riley on a great buck and good memories for 09. Glad I was there.

Nate

From the sounds of it Fread and Barn have blood trails all over that mountain. [ Impressive ]

Sounds like Fred and Barney have blood trails all over that mountain.............. IMPRESSIVE

Funny how cwarr pipes in on something he has no clue about I guess just to keep the fire burning. Sorry dxthunter but thought it was settled and over but your so called friend that thinks he has a clue as if he was there. I dont recall anyplace its says that anyother animals were hit and not found, I do recall one saying that another 4point was harvested so dont know where Mr know it all is reading his posts, but guess thats what friends are for..Thanks cwarr for your meaningless know nothing posts, maybe if you were there it might have some merit behind it..nice try.

Huntndad you are right i was not there but for anybody to get on and post that they wounded a deer they could not find seems strange to me. I know it happens all the time but for me that is somthing I would keep to myself.

Well first off I never said i wounded deer and second get your facts straight on the entire story on what happened. I understand your best pals but there is more to this then you know or will ever know. Its too bad all bow hunters dont shoot as true and you with your robin hood aim but such is life. As far as I know all piece has been made with all parties and an understanding that it might of been someothers, but if you want to add fuel to this just to keep it going feel free to pipe in. If not feel free to state your opion on the matter but keep your mouth shut on facts that you know nothing about.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-27-09 AT 03:14PM (MST)[p]retard? you looking in the mirror or what northslope? or should i refer to you as rainman?? oh almost forgot, maybe go back and read what your wrote (you are people) what the hell does that mean? at least if going to call me a retard make sure you type the sentance correct.

Hmmmmmm, maybe before you make fun of someone's grammer you should check your own! What is a sentance? Is that kinda like a sentence? (you even edited your post once, I wouldn't want to see what it looked like prior to that) Just wondering. Anyway I'm sure I will see you on the mountain.

well dont recall making fun of your grammar, just pointed out before you call some one a retard might do a spell check. As for my typo hell I am a retard remember rainman..at least I have a reason behind it. wow kinda funny you fools that have no first hand knowledge of the situation have seemed to take it in directions that who knows whats going on anymore. Any how Reilly have a talk with your fella's tell em its all good in the hood unless they wanna babble back and forth over nonsense. Hey northslope you tard lover if you really wanna keep chatting with me just give a call or come on over, hell you might even get to sneak a kiss in, seems you have a crush on me or something.

Tard lover? Really huntndad, is that all you came up with. I think you need to change your name to huntnboy, because you are so immature and childish. Oh and hey all the homophobe comments just show what a total idiot you really are. Just disappear and if you want to get some kisses from dudes you're probably on the wrong site. Maybe you should check craigslists. I'm excited to hear your childish reply. Oh, before you do it you might want to wipe the cheetos dust off your fingers first. You wouldn't want to dirty up your keyboard. Actually save your reply, its really not worth it.
