BURNEY, CA Archery Buck 2009

This is 29? 6x5 taken up in Burney a week and a half ago. I got this from one of my good friend?s and the dude in the picture is his cousin; my buddy should have went on this trip. Apparently they also got a nice 24? 4x4 and missed one bigger than the one in this picture. I'll let you know what the score is when they get the results. They took it in last week.

I have seen this same pic in another forum and the guy said one of his friend shot that buck in x-3 I will stick with what you say,In the back ground it looks like white oaks behind the manzanita.Is burney in c-3? I am not familiar with that area.He also has a pic of a 28 inch 4x4 from x-2.

Great buck!!

Burney is center base of my stomping grounds during deer season. It is on the border between zones C-2 and C-3. The town itself though, is only several miles away from three different X-zones, X-1, X-4, and a bit further, X-3a where you can generally expect bigger deer and some, much bigger deer. Deer like this guy have been taken there in those C-zones but i assure you, they are not common as i've yet to see anything near like this guy. Most who hunt there are happy to see any legal buck, many don't!

Nice buck, his face looks like he's an old one. Sorry..but on another note i can almost feel the ethics police starting in on this one. And sadly i have to say i agree a little....at least have enough class to at least pull the arrows out and turn him over...we all like to see bucks on the ground, but they dont have to look like you used them for a shooting block.
