LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-09 AT 11:56PM (MST)[p]Here's a buck we took last week up in the high country of Colorado. After a pretty tough 3-hour hike loaded with 8o lbs of gear, we got to our base camp. Opening morning we sat in a deer bed/blind in a mountain-pass I had scouted last year. After some near misses, this buck came through the pass and I gave my buddy Cody the range....65 yards. He made a great shot and smoked this sweet 24" 3x4. We tracked him till dark and then had to pull back. Overnight the bears got to the buck, but luckily his head, cape and horns were okay. Congrats to my friend Cody who made a great shot at 11,500 feet to take this great buck!!!

Congrats on a nice buck. Looks like a fun hunt. Headed up on the 18th to see if my wife can stick one.

nice buck!! way to get it done up top, where we all wish we were. What did the bears eat on him, his hindquarters? If you dont mind me asking is this in the north part of the state?

I am suprised the mm ethics police are not on this one!

Congrats on a great buck, glad you found him!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-14-09 AT 00:21AM (MST)[p]We hit the buck in the evening and then spent the next hour and a half tracking his blood. He'd had been hit pretty high and a little forward and the arrow stayed in, so not much blood to follow. We tracked him about 600 yards until it got dark. Then we went back first thing in the morning. He had gone another 600 yards from where we had left his trail the night before before dying. We were very lucky to find him. During the night, the bears opened up his stomach and had pulled out and ate the guts, etc. A fellow hunter got pics of the two bears (sow and cub) the next morning as they left the deer's carcass. I'll attach them. Anyway, it was a great hunt. Great weather, lots of good bucks, tons of hard high-elevation hiking, and a good deer down. I'll throw some more hunt pics in as well. Good luck guys!! Kip
