Fellow Muley seekers..

Due to an unfortunate turn of events, I've been unable to land my honey hole this year in the northern unit. As such, I am without a place to hunt deer on the fast approaching rifle general season. Understanding that each of us has a knowledge of these units, I would appreciate if anyone could perhaps give me a little assistance. I have been able to hunt private ground over the last few years and have been spoiled in doing so, now I am up a creek without a paddle and looking for a little direction. If any of you cuold help by pointing out some public areas, or perhaps let me know if there is a lease available for hunting, it would be most appreciated.

Please advise....

Monte, Cache NF, Raft Rivers, Uintas, WIAs, and WMAs are your best bet. Actually they are your only bet, unless you can find PP :)
Hope you like pumpkin Pie :)

Cache NF, lots of people, very few deer, even fewer bucks, same at monte. Raft River mountains, more deer, even more people. WIA, every decent buck is dead. Find the farthest place from a road you can get, that'll be your best bet, i will send you a pm.

I would avoid the Uintas for the general rifle. Most of the deer migrate out before the general rifle hunt starts.

Oh poor baby, you can't hunt your private land this year. Well, here is what us "regular joe's" do every year: You head to the mountains, hike a lot, spend tons of money on gas and binoculars and spotting scopes, and go that extra mile to find that special buck that hopefully no one else knows about. Or if you want to try to locate a good buck in the fields in the valley get a plot map and try to find a farmer that hasn't gotten pissed on by another hunter in past years and will let ya go. Good luck, that is the best advice I have.

I suggest that you pick an area that looks good to you. The areas mentioned above are a good start. Now you need to go to these areas and decide if it is the type of country/terrain you enjoy hunting. I'm fairly young (32) so I take full advantage of my good health and hunt the steep and deep country because not alot of people go into these areas. I too am hunting the Northern utah area for deer this year because it is close to home. I've got tons of good places that I have seen a decent amount of bucks in. Do your research, don't ask for free handouts on this websight because you might not likr what you hear. We all have found our honey holes with hard work and determination. Good Luck.

You know, here's what is so interesting about this website. You think you can ask a few helps here and there, maybe get some advise, for the most part you get that. However, you always gotta get the guy that has to be a jerk.Banded... Im not sure what your problem is, but your comments suck.

There's always someone on here that has to be that person that makes themselves look good and downs the others. Do you feel better that you've made yourself look like an idiot with your "oh poor baby" commment and your "joe's" comment? I've done my share of public ground hiking, gas money, ect.... your comments reflect the level of maturity....

Happy Hunting Banded...

I used to hunt the High Creek area years ago of the North Cache range. Not a ton of deer but the ones we got were pretty nice. It is right on the border of Idaho so be careful that you know where you are. Oh, also, it is rougher than waking up to Kathy Griffin in the morning (so I have heard).

30-30

I've got a couple great areas. They are in the southern part of the unit.

I'll share some info (not all :)) but youll have to PM me if you're interested.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-25-09 AT 02:56AM (MST)[p]TELL ME FOUNDER WHY ISNT THIS GUY BANNED?? I SURE AS HELL WOULD RATHER READ BOBCATS STUFF OVER HAVING TO READ THIS GARBAGE

where ever you hunt try and get ahead of the crowd that will be hunting from the road if you can pick out where the deer will be heading after the first shots you will do a lot better hunting those saddles where deer cross from canyon to canyon.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

PM me what type of buck you are looking to get, and how much you are willing to pay for a lease or a tag.. I will give you more info on what we usually lease or charge for tags..

I completely understand where he was coming with those comments.

WTF,did you JUST find out you weren't hunting PP this year? probably not. Go buy a GD map, drive around a little, do some LEG work!

It seems ever since these websites have come around, no one wants to go out and do any of their own leg work. It's easier to come in here and ask(and then call us folks that give you crap about it jerks) people where to go.

I've got a few ideas where you can go.
