Does size matter?

I always thought that you could get a pretty good idea of the size of a buck by the size of his hoof. Then I shot a pretty good buck and his feet were tiny. Was this just a fluke? Or has anyone else seen this?

Yeah I have seen it. He could still be young. I got a 5x7 that was 27" wide and he had tiny little feet. just good genetics and not old enough to grow to full capacity.

I followed a HUGE track for two days after a fresh snow one year, and it turned out to be a 3 year old 22'' willowy 4 point...go figure.

"Yeah, I'll shoot him"

I killed a 30" wide, heavy, tall 3x4, 185 ish, in Colorado with dinky feet! But I still get excited about seeing a fresh big track, go figure.

Big feet and tracks almost always means a old big bodied buck. You shouldn't rule out tracks just because they aren't big, cause you never know...
