Hey fellow hunters. Im from maryland and i am going mule deer hunting in Newcastle wy in nov. First time for muleys. Can anyone give me some pointers? What can i exspect to see?

I have never hunted Wyoming, and I'm not familiar with the type of country you will be hunting i.e. High Desert, Timber or both. Never the less you need good optics, buy the best you can afford. I like a good pair of 10x42 binoculars, it would be nice to have a spotting scope also. I would buy an Eberlestock J-107 backpack or whatever type you like, but you will need one. Like the other guy said good boots, warm clothes etc. Also, a pair of bi-pods personaly I like Snipe Pods but again it's up to you what brand of this stuff you bring. Camera, don't forget the camera and a couple of knives and I would bring a saw. I use a Wyoming saw, bring rope, flagging, GPS if you have it.

As far as hunting goes, the best advice I can give you is glass, glass and then glass again. Spend a lot of time looking, that is why I reccomend the best glass you can afford. Between now and then spend a lot of time at the range shooting. Another thing if you are hunting open country and you have never hunted it before the distance is very deceiving so you might want to bring a range finder. For people who have never hunted that type of ground and for those who have it is very deceiving how far things are. Like the other guy said also, get in the best shape you can get into. And remember and this is the most important thing of all, HAVE FUN AND ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!

I would also call the Biologist and talk to him, get a couple maps of the area and do as much research as you can. If you have 10 days to hunt I would get there 4-5 days early and scout. I'm a huge fan of scouting, it has really paid off for me in the past.

Good luck,

Use google earth to get a better idea of what the area looks like, and prepare for wind.
