Opening day with my son....

I let my son Braden skip school on opening day of the muzzle loader hunt. Even though this isn't the biggest buck on the mountain we had one of my most memorable days hunting that neither he or I will ever forget. He'll be old enough to hunt on his own next year and he's already counting the days.

I would love to have the oppurtunity to harvest a buck like that. It looks like he had a better time on the mt. than in a desk! What state?

Maybe not but it might be the biggest smile on the mountain. Very nice. I'm sure he learned more do ing that than he would have at school for one day.

Congrats on a great trip and great picture.

Love all that stuff and love it more with my "little guy".

Within the shadows, go quietly.

Oh do I have fond memories of skipping school to go chase muleys around. Even better when you find a nice one to tag out on.

There's room for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potato's and gravy.

Congrats on a nice deer! I can still remember when I was young and opening morning would roll around, and my dad would let me miss school and let me go with him every year! Great memories!

hell of a nice deer for your kid! i used to love getting out a school for a week to go deer/elk hunting with the old man and his party. he started doing this when i was around 9. i have to thank him for that. because if he hadnt, i may not be such a hunting nut now:)

Way to go guys. The background to this story goes far deeper than most people will know. Great buck, great kids (Braden and Talon), and a hell of a father. Glad these guys will be in my huntin party for many years to come.

Nothing like cutting school for a few days hunting and then getting a good buck to go back to school with bragging rights.

Great to see the youngster out in the woods with a dead buck in his hands!! That's a better reason to skip school than anything else I can think of. Great father / son time too! Nice job, great pics, thanks for sharing.

Congrats to a great looking buck and a smile to last a life time! you can't measure happiness in inches and in my book he is a great buck! He'll never forget the days of going out hunting with his dad! once again congrats!
