Medusa Update

Well, I have some good news and some bad news about our buddy Medusa. First the good news, I he still alive!
Here is the last time I got a picture of him as the rut just started. This fight was not too serious with this B/C 4X4.

Now the bad news, this is all he has left of his awesome rack. The fight he was just in must have been brutal! I saw a big buck run out of a canyon with only one partial antler on one side. I thought "Wow that must have been a knock down drag out". I went just another 1/4 mile and saw my buddy Medusa limping by. It took me a few seconds just to recognize him.
Now I just hope a lion doesn't get him this fall and winter.

Anyway, so much for finding his sheds this season.

Well, I can quit dreaming about him now!:) He'll be bigger and badder next year!(if all goes well). His rack confiruration might be kinda weak?

Helluva story......your pictures are the real trophy. I would do some kind of picture line up and have it put in a really nice frame. Thanks for the updates.

Been awhile, I had to stop and think about who Medusa is...

Well I guess we can now look forward to photos of a bigger Medusa next season.
Thanks for bringing us along MrB

Yeah that is what I was thinking there Eel - maybe indicates some other genetic defect too. Cool photo essay on him though throughout the year. I am glad he is still walking around.

Thanks so much for posting your "Medusa Buck Saga", even though there was a somewhat disappointing outcome (the destruction of his unique rack). Who knows what more you'll be able to post through the remainder of the rut and through winter...maybe we'll even get to see what's left of his antlers when you FIND them!! That would be a real needle in a haystack!
So many are into the biggest buck, the biggest bull, the biggest or most shed antlers, etc... I even get excited with posts such as yours. Exciting for me finding even the most miniscule of sheds. I recently found where a bull elk had thrashed a tree, and broke off his last two points on one side! To me, even finding evidence that told a story was exciting. I hope your story continues to entertain us...

What a great story! Good luck with him next year! Thanks.
