I took this buck with the wife's model 7 260 rem at 75 yards with a nosler 120 Ballistic tip. I took him to my local meat processor because I didn't have time to do it my self and someone stole the antlers.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-09 AT 10:33AM (MST)[p]Nice buck, too bad about the rack. Let's see a pic of your wife;)

I would but there are to many mean people on line. Not many are Gentlemen anymore.

Thats messed up. What meat Processor was it? I hunt a part of montana that looks very similar, and was wondering if its the same one i use.

pm me and I will tell you. By the way the buck was a 27 inch 5x5

Why would you leave the head with the butcher??? Usually they throw the heads away or cutt them off. You can't process the head.
Probably a good idea to cut the head off before you take it to the butcher. Especially if you shoot a buck like that.

yeah hind sights 20/20 it was late and close to closing time when I got there and they said they would save it for me. Most buck in our area are taken if with the antlers and you get them back. I will never do it again.

that sucks!! was he skinned already or do they do it for you? Any meat guys I have been to dont want your hide and hair anywhere near their place. Good luck finding it.

I shot him around 2 then took him over there around 6pm when my buddies were done hunting for the day. They skinned him too. Alot of places in Eastern Montana you can just drop the deer off.

My brother in law shot a small 4-point a couple years ago. He took the whole deer to a local butcher shop. 2 days later they told him he could come get the antlers. He didn't have time to go get them so he asked me to pick them up for him. I walked in, told the butcher I needed to pick up some antlers for charles. He wasn't sure which set were his, so he told me to pick out which ones were his. Luckily I knew which ones were his, I grabbed them and left. He never asked me name or nothing. Now I could have grabbed any of the sets in there. After this incident I knew to never take antlers to this butcher, They need to verify whos antler belong to who, and also verify who picks up the antlers.
