Day 9 of my Paunsaugunt hunt I finaly got one. He turned out to be a 28" 4X5 with a drop tine and eye guards. Nothing like waiting till the last minute. I think I was driving Brian crazy he can spot a deer anywhere, so some of them I could not even find that he was looking at. It was all worth it.

Awesome hunt best 9 days ever it only took me 11 years to draw a tag and get a big buck.

That is me in the photo. 5 layers of clothes and bald with a MM hat on. I have cancer, had chemo the Wednesday before the hunt started.

Congratulations on overcoming the ultimate adversity and persevering through to the end of your hunt!!!!!

Congrats on a really good buck and overcoming adversity. If you have a story, we'd love to hear it. 9 days is a long time to stay with it; way to go.

wow congrats on a nice buck. i'm the one that killed the the one the night before that you walked over and talked to. had no idea who you guys were. my mom is been battling lukemia this past year so i know the fight it takes to go through chemo. best wishes on a full recovery.

Karrie
I'm so glad you have been fighting this battle with valor. Brian has kept his personal life(OTHER THAN HUNTIUNG) to himself and many don't know what you guys have been going through. I admire your strength and committment to have a little fun during the battle. May God bless you in victory soon.

Congrats on the buck too.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-09 AT 08:57AM (MST)[p]wow n praise the Lord' on both accomplishments.....

never say "I Have" such n such, when it comes to bad things, that means you are claiming it as your own......say you are dealing with Cancer and beating it!....its never yours Manny

Founders wife-glad to see you puttin it to the old man a little-very nice buck and great persistence. Nice pics-lets hear a little story on the hunt and what all you saw! Fine job.

Nice buck! Way to push it down to the wire. I have been wondering how you did down there after bumping into you a couple of times over the week. That looks like a GREAT end to a fun hunt! Way to go!

Can't tell you how happy I was to hear you killed a stud of a buck. He looks awesome!

I know how hard you guys hunted. You hunted harder and longer than most men would have-even with the challenges you're facing.

Great buck! Thank you for being an inspiration to all of us!

Wow!...WOW!

Congradulations! I'm sure that must have been one of your most memorable hunts. So happy for you.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-09 AT 01:57PM (MST)[p]I am so proud of my wife. She had all the excuses in the world to throw in the towel at anytime, but she didn't. She hunted hard every morning and evening for 8-1/2 days, whether she felt good or not. She's incredible! I'm so glad she was rewarded with a fine trophy. It'll be the best trophy on our wall for sure.

PS - She even picked this deer hunt over a warm, tropical vacation.

Can you clue us in on what kind of Bucks you seen & did you see any that were bigger?

Karrie/Brain,

Congratulations on your successful hunt. Giving the Pauns all 9 days to give up a trophy is admirable, even when your on top of your game let alone when your pack?en a ton of rock along with it.

As a couple, you should be thrilled with the outcome and a mighty fine trophy to remind you of your accomplishment.

You have been an inspiration to us all, may the Lord bless and keep you as the adventure continues.

"Paunsaugunt 2009 Buck"
Day 9 of my Paunsaugunt hunt I finaly got one.>

Congratulations on one very nice buck! Question though, by hunting the nine days, did you see other larger bucks during those days and were you holding out for the monarch of the mountain (180+) or was that the biggest deer you saw? As the days went on did they become more wiley?

Karrie,

First off, CONGRATS!!!!! Secondly, you hunted damn hard and were rewarded with a pig of a buck. I'm truely not surprised. Your a fighter and seeing you succeed is something we are all used to witnessing. Way to go!!!! And Brian, one hell of an assist. You've been there for a lot of bruisers hitting the dirt but I bet they all take a back seat to this one. I can't wait to see him on the wall.

Karrie,

I do not know you but I want you to know I am proud of you! That is a toad of a buck and to do it right after chemo! Man you are a trooper. If you have any more pictures or time to tell us a little more about your hunt I would love to hear it.

Stay strong and keep up the good fight. We are all rooting and praying for you now that we know of your battle. I wish you the best! Thanks for sharing your pics.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-28-09 AT 08:54AM (MST) by Founder (admin)[p]Thanks everyone! It really was a great hunt. Lots of help from Marco, Brian?s dad and step mom and Brian?s mom, oh and most of all Brian.

We hunted every day seen lots of bucks and a few takers but not to many. The few takers that we did see I just could not get a shot at. I did pass on a pretty good 4X4 the night before that we watched for about an hour. The morning of the 9th day Brian spotted a good buck, I took a shot but I was so excited and I was shaking so darn bad that I totally missed. I felt just sick about it the last day we finally find a really good buck should have been an easy shot and how I totally missed I have no idea. But Brian got it on video so I can re-live it forever. Then for the next hour or so we were searching around me sick as heck for missing on the last day last chance and can you believe it Brian once again spots another taker I did not know if he was kidding or not until I could here the excitement in his voice the buck was at the top of this big hill coming down. I was still pretty mad and upset about missing the last one and so I took all the time in the world Brian was wondering if I was ever going to shoot but I wanted to be sure that I did not make a repeat performance. Brian kept saying okay now would be good, okay he stopped, are you okay, can you see him, all the time Brian is messing with the video camera. I am almost ready finally got the nerves in check after what seemed to take forever took my shot and it was perfect, I had my big buck.
Then Brian tells me the camera was messed up and he did not get any of it on video but we got the missed one on video, oh well who cares I got my buck. Then as if I had not been lucky enough twice on the last day here comes this guy and his wife they got the whole thing on video. So as soon as I get a copy of the video maybe I can get it on Monster Hunt Clips

To answer a lot of question I have gotten no Brian did not ever take the gun from me. I asked him a couple of times when we were hunting if it was driving him nuts he said no. I think he was just really excited about me going after a big buck. There was even a night that he says he could have gotten a shot at a taker but I just did not feel comfortable with the shot so I did not shoot.

Nothing more memorable than good stories, even more important than the kill. Thanks for the commentary. A great story and a great deer!!

Great Job Karrie, glad to see you're doing alright. I'm sure that was fun having the family there.

Congrats Karrie on a beautiful Paunsaugunt Buck, that unit is a bugger to hunt sometimes trying to figure out just where there at but from that Toad I can see you were in the right place at the right time. Again congrats on a great trophy and god bless you on a speedy recovery.

I'll bet that will be one of the most memorable hunts ever..
I know my wife's will always be tops in my book after what she went thru with her handicap and then to harvest a great animal to boot.
