Just got word from a buddy who guides that just under 2 hours ago a big money hunter killed a 329" gross non typical. 241" frame and 88" of trash. 13x12 and 25" of mass per. 43" outside spread. Beams are 31" and 30". I'm trying to get pics...

By the way this isn't the 300+ Non-Typical he's talking about.

The Mundy buck has a 246 gross frame and that is the biggest in the books. I would also like to see a picture of a another buck with a 240 frame.
 
Ok I will accept if I am wrong I am sorry for misreading that somewhere. If you know the biggest would you please tell me I would like to read more about it. I always like to read about big bucks.
 
HOBBSP,I think you are reading between the wrong lines .Browtine obviously has a little more info than the rest of us .Its not yer post that he is calling BS ,Its the original post of a 329/245 Jicarilla deer he is talking about .Browtine ,please correct me if I am wrong .
 
Because this deer will be featured in a future Bucks of the Jicarilla due out march '10 I'm not at liberty to post pics. I couldn't fathom a deer this large in the wild or the amount he has grown in one year. Last year he was about a 260" deer and he eluded a hunter and guide (with help from a big snow). This deer is unreal and the biggest NM has EVER seen. Think The Mundy Buck with more trash.... Un####ing believable.

Yea, the post. We have called every guide we know down there and no deer even remotely close to this size has been killed this year according to them. When can white men hunt the rez? Can they even hunt it now? Also, I talked to a few other people who have some vested interest in what shows up down there this year no one could produce any evidence one this large has been killed. Like I said, It would be great if it were true, but I suspect its not. When something this big hits the dirt, there are pics everywhere..... Spyder bull for example. That bull hit the dirt and evidence was on this site within one hour.

Hunt_Jicarilla, This by no means is me calling you a liar. I'm just checking with some of the people that guide down there.

Just FYI, White men can hunt the Jicarrilla. I hunted it for elk in '98 and there were plenty of others hunting deer. The locals only get to hunt for big bucks if drawn or soemthing like that. The big dollar tags go to anyone with the money.

I saw some of the biggest bcuks on the hoof I have ever seen on that hunt. I saw one that looked just like that buck in post #8. When was it killed?

I actually meant can the white man hunt it now.. meaning, todays date. They are hunting it however, the white man dates are different and I don't think they have started yet this year?

Yes fldrw22 - that is the correct way to pronounce it, if you want to go by the original Spanish pronunciation of the word. It appears the word's origin comes from the word "j?cara" which roughly means "woven basket". Aparrently the early Spaniards began calling the Apache people the "jicarilla" or "the people of the woven baskets" if you will, after their artisitic abilities to make woven baskets and other useful items.

However I called it by this pronunciation once in front of my Dad and he chewed me out for not saying "hick - a - rill - a" and told me that if I wanted to say it like the easterners then I needed to go back to Texas!

Note to all those who have rumors of giants getting killed, leave it a rumor and dont post it unless your prepared to SHOW THE PROOF!! Sorry about the rant, I dont think I had a good nights rest.
 
That would be awesome if this were to be true. The non-tribal member hunt is not till December. Hopefully, I will be applying for this hunt next year.

Amazing what kind of animal can be produced with proper management and quality genetics. I haven't seen the pic but believe that this type of monster could come off the jicarilla. Dying to see pics!

call it theft if you want, but i spent 10 yrs of my life guiding hunters on the fencline of the "jic", my last yr i had to take a sign to remember those days.

it is spelled " jicarilla" and pronounced " HIC-A-RE-A" they get paid on tuesdays, and if you go to any bar in dulce or chama, the best thing you can do is send a round of drinks to the indians table if you want to NOT get into a fight that night. EVEN THE GIRLS will want to fight you:) but you will get along with them if you try. maybe if i feel like ALOT of re-sizing pics i will post ALOT of big bucks taken on their fenceline. i can still see , plain as day, some of the bucks / bulls i seen on their side of the fence. my god do they grow some big animals. i still say today that their elk hunt is among the best bargans out there for a guided elk hunt.

man those were the days;)
