First Mule Deer

I passed on some smaller 4x4's during this hunt and on the next to last morning I was beginning to question myself. It was foggy this morning then all of the sudden the fog lifted and this huge buck was standing 350 yards away. He had no idea we were there and walked in behind some cypress feeding. We booked it across the meadow and snuck to within 125 yards before I dropped the hammer. The first shot hit a limb, but the second shot sent him reeling. This is going to be a hard buck to top.

Thanks to JFWRC and my guide Jim Johns. I can't say enough about how great it has been to hunt with Mr. Johns.

Great buck! I like the little kicker on his right side. Not to mention the mass! I love how it carries! Congratulations! Hunt hard and you may be able to top that.

My first mulie was a little forkie and i believe i was 10 and my hand was about as big as his rack.lol

Congrats on a great buck!

Can't beat that for a 1st buck! That is a great looking buck for sure. Congrats.

I just went through the instructions on the B&C site for scoring and came up with 160 1/8 gross and 151 3/8 net typical. Does that look like it might be in the ball park? This is the first time I've tried scoring a deer.

Congrats Ben, You got yourself a dandy buck first deer or not. I really like those bucks that have some mass like your deer.
Thanks for sharing the photos.

Mr. Krabs,

Score looks about right. Great job on a dandy buck. That buck doesn't have much for krab forks...I suggest you change your name, unless you speak of other sort of krabs.... :)

My wife says I can smell any money she's got like Mr. Krabs on Spongebob Squarepants. That's where the name came from :).

nice buck!
