Is he a shooter?

I just got back from a coyote hunt and saw a pretty decent deer in my eyes. What do you guys think?

I would shot him too. Right before Joey pulled the trigger. LOL

Pretty buck, short forks though. With the cheaters and trash on the one side though, it makes him very unique and difficult to pass up.

He wouldn't last till legal light on opening morning in Utah on the general hunt.

I agree with everything these guys have said about the deer. HOWEVER (personal only), I've done this long enough that sometimes I'm in a "look" mode rather than a "shoot" mode.

I may not have shot him....depends on my attitude. (My attitude is always shoot if he's a true GIANT.)

This year, I had a buck at about 200 yds. He was broadside and I had the crosshairs on his chest with the safety off. All I did was say, "bang, you're dead". He was a heavy-antlered 4x4 with good tine length and deep forks. He was approx. 28" wide. My guess is he would have scored about 180 to 185.

I shot a smaller one three days later. Both times my son was with me and he could see both deer. Why did I WANT to shoot the 2nd time and not the first......don't have a clue! I understand why I sometimes wait....I don't know what "flips" the switch to "today is the day".

Within the shadows, go quietly.

+1 gb22, so true! i've passed on bucks as good as what i have and then took nothing or smaller bucks to bring home. There are several in particular that haunt me, larger than the buck shown, that i let slide. Looking at lots of decent bucks for the true monster is a tough game!

All depends on where you are hunting.
A super premium tag or private land with lots of bucks?
No.
Warped out public land with quads ripping around left & right and more hunters than deer ?
BANG!

more people would say they'd pass that buck than actually would.

It's a pretty nice one, no doubt.

I agree with Hunter Harry, but in most situations he would be a shooter for me.
