Another Season Comes to a Close

With our deer season closing on the 10th and the fact I've got to work all week, I'm pretty much done. Had an awesome season hunting with my kids and hunted every weekend from Sept 1 till this past weekend with a bunch of holiday time thrown in too. Was tuff conditions this year. The wolves have been putting the pressure on and the deer have responded by hiding in some of the thickest nastiest timber imaginable. Makes it a challenge, but still managed to see numerous respectable bucks and a few that many would love to pull the trigger on. Just wasn't what I was looking for though. 200 inches or bust means you are going to eat tag soup often but for me the hunt is more important than the kill. I enjoyed every minute of the hunt. I'm pretty damn tired now, so I'll take a few weekends to relax and then I'll see if I can get my pups under a lion tree. Here are some pics from this past season.

I did my part in trying to control the dinky dog deer invasion with a little meat buck.

I also harvested my limited entry muley doe to add a little more meat to the freezer. Was unsuccessful on my moose and goat but with 5 deer in the freezer, we should be set until next Sept.

Reddog,
I didn't choose those scope mounts. It was on the gun when I inherited it. I ain't much of a gun nut, so I don't really pay attention to things like scope mounts. I've killed a whack of critters with that gun and I am pretty darn hard on my equipment. I haven't had any issues with my set up thus far. Just curious why you cringe? Should I be worried about it?

Just great photo's of another priceless fall with family!

May you be blessed for years to come with the kids and continue to share such splendid scenes with your friends points south of you.
