Man I would love to be a Native American. You boys have the hunting seasons the rest of our jealous of.

Great forks! Have you scored him? BTW, I'm 1/16 Cherokee, does that allow me any access to your hunting grounds;)

Hi utehubter,
That is a nice Buck.
I'm just curious to know what permit allows you to hunt Bucks in Colorado on state/public ground in December?
I'm not trying to ruffle your headband, just wondering how a buck after the rut tastes?

Lookin for a sunny Day

Awesome buck, the side view picture makes it look like an elk. Congrats on a great buck.

I'm not utehunter but I know that with a reservation permit, you are allowed to hunt all private/public land wthin the exterior boundrys of the reservation.

First of all, excellent buck for sure--looks like right around the magical 200" mark to me. Second, correct me if i'm wrong, but as a Native American you can hunt pretty much year round for these animals right? That's why your just getting after you elk tag? Hey man, i'm just jealous too that I can't do that or I would be! Great buck again.

Research "Brunot Agreement".

Nice buck!

That buck will score 200 for sure!

Awesome buck! We all dream about bucks like that one!

Good Job, and thanks for posting pics of him.

And starts again Jan. 1? When does it start--did I say I was jealous??? Awesome buck!

Colorado also has a late plains season that is the first couple of weeks of December.

Nice guess hunt_rez but he bigger then that. U can come put your tape on him when I get the euro mount done on him. U and your dad should be out looking for a buck for u guys to shoot? Are u guys just going to drive the county roads on the rez? U know my little brother is going to kill a toad.

There ain't no big bucks....haha we could kill 25"wide and 190" deer all day but them are a dime a dozen McCoy, you know that. Beside you don't have to kill a buck every year. Remember can't be shootin deer for fun

Great Buck!! Aside from the small stickers, almost all the inches on that buck are going to Net Score, very little deductions.

I'd guess him in the mid to high 190's...Net score and Booner Buck!!!

Congrats!!

Joey

Weminuche--
That is an awesome buck so don't get me wrong. However, he's not much over a 25" 190 buck and I seriously doubt you could kill a bunch of those or we'd be seeing them on here... What is he Ute, 26" wide? Those deep forks are what make him score really, really well...Show me some 190" bucks you have just laying around...

Can I marry into tribe and will I be able to hunt with ya. LOL
He is a great looking buck, Euro mount? He would look better with a half turn shoulder mount.

23" and 24" beams 17.75" of mass. 20" inside spread. Me and ute are good friends and this is nothing more than friendly trash talking. He is 25" wide I already put a tape on him. I rough taped all the small measurements with quick math to around 188-190. To me score doesn't matter neither does the book or even shooting a deer every year. I like looking at big tall heavy and most of all WIDE monster deer. You can have your narrow bucks that score give me width and mass

Those are some nice 'Trophy' photos. But I have to agree with Weminuche...188. Great looking buck though, Congrats!

Well what his goes score?

I think I shot that deer's brother. 25" with deep forks, a little more trash though. Colorado 3rd season. I'd disagree on wide heavy bucks if that's all they have. Got to love deep forked horns. Great buck utehunter.

Duke,
why did you kill that meat buck? you know theres better ones out there, the big bulls are coming down now:)

I'm white and killed a buck in December. Meat is just fine. It was harvested on private ground so maybe that is why the meat is tasty.

>ute tag for rut?
>Thats BS
>you took that december buck on
>state land.

He a ute buck within the boundary of are rez. fair game sorry u are mad that the way it works.

I try not too. Maybe I should just change my name that might help. Just standing up for myself u would do the same thing right?

I thought you said it was a state land buck??

great post/pic, thanks for sharing

Yes it was on STATELAND within the boundrys of the rez. I said that long time ago. And what your problem with that?? Is that so hard to understand?

not a problem with that if it's legal,
but killing bucks in december is BS and I don't care what breed is doing it.

Like I said before there are alot of hunts during and after the rut. And Your breed does it too get mad at them!!
It is legal dont do it any other way.

I would imaging 75% of all states offer hunting during December and into January. Please use your vast knowledge of wildlife management to explain why it is BS.

The Jicarilla is the same way.Thats why they have so many B&C

entries cuz they,re Dec hunts .But so be it. They actually

manage their herds better than state agencies. They concentrate

on predetor control.Look at the Zunis here in NM stopped hunting

big game for 5 years to bring up their herd Quality up.

If UT FISH&GAME did that it would be on the World news.

Also the Utes are buying alot of private ranches around Chromo

Which was once probably considered state lands but is now

the REZ.The Casinos are paying off.If you guys can manage your

land And kill bucks like that year after year.So be it..

You guys want a buck like that the Jic will hook you up $12,000

This is one of the reasons why I do not post here as much as I used to. UTEHUNTER, great buck and congrats.

>vast knowledge?

Yes, vast knowledge. You type like you are very well educated in deer management and I thought in your infinate wisdom you could give us all a lesson.

>try some common sense, you ever heard
>of any?

ahhhhh ok, please explain your "common sense" theory then.

Yes I see why there just haters!! Thanks overkill.

Ya hell, there are soo many December tags available to the public, I pass up 25" 190 bucks, cuz hell I'll get the same tag next year....

Get a frikken clue, saying there's a bunch of hunts in december is the lamest "defense" you coulda came up with. the handful of late tags available to "white men" take a lifetime to draw..if you think this crap wont strike a nerve, your mistaken.

Just say you do it because you can...FWIW, if that clown hunt rez would STFU, nothing would have been said in the first place.

Fair statement!

Fair statement! Some states do, they just take forever to draw.

>Third: If it is the

Rifle hunts are available in some states.

Had or have no intentions of defending they guy. Trust me, I do not agree with it being shot on state land. Somebody just said it was BS to hunt in December with no reasoning and I was looking for the answer to his thoughts. As I said earlier, I harvested a great buck on December 4th of this year. It was a tough hunt but I finally found one. Usually, sucess rates on this hunt is very low for trophy animals.

Great buck, congratulations. If you shot it legal (and I have no reason to think you did not), ignore them and enjoy the memories.

First of all, great buck Ute! and if was shot legally, then kudos to you. Pick up a bow next year, and have some fun with the hunt.

Next, and this has nothing to do with race, but Barry Bonds was NOT a better hitter than Ted Williams, and its not really that close.

IMO, Barry Bonds was/is the BEST BASEBALL PLAYER of MY generation. No other player saw only one or two pitches a game that were hitable, then smashed those pitches someplace in, or out of, the park. His intentional PHD use is still unproven, beyond media bias, and even if he did use intentionally, he did nothing almost every other great athlete of his generation has been Proven or Admitted to have been doing. Never, was there any proof or talk of needles! Get over it!!

I still think that this is one of the very best bucks of the year, certainly a great typical I'm somewhat jealous that i can't get to hunt these late seasons but i'll not say that there is any less accomplishment in taking this fine Mule Deer! Some of you guys need to chill. We already took away what the Native Americans once had, seems some here want to take away what little they have again. Congrats to the hunter!!

Joey

30-30,

I did say that this is a great typical buck but calling it the "Barry Bonds Buck", arguably the best of all time, is a stretch!
