It's been quite some time since I posted here. Used to a bunch.
My buddies and I have max WY points on deer and are going to use them next year. This will also be the first western trip I take my oldest son with me (will be 11). This hunt will be DIY on public land.
I really love the Cody, WY area. Been there lots of times in the summer over the year. I'm thinking of giving that area a try on a later season hunt (November).
Have the grizzlies pretty much shut down by that time of year? We've hunted a ton in Colorado and eastern WY via backpack and am not nervous in the backcountry, but I haven't hunted grizzly country before and want to be careful especially since my boy will be with me.
Also, looking at maps, it seems that there is plenty of public land at lower elevations, but I really thought it was mostly private from my trips there. Is the lower elevation country to the NW and SW of Cody really deer country if the migration has hit?
Any other suggestions or tips would be appreciated.
