Here are some before and after pics of my archery buck that I finally mounted. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. It did take a little longer than 5 minutes though. hah

Who's that good looking SOB behind you?:) Looks awesome bro! Hopefully the next one goes better than that one did, it was a pain in the azz, but it did turn out great. This is pathfinders 09 Utah archery buck.

He wont have another day off until the end of March, so maybe then he can take some closer pics and post them up.

pathfinder,

did you keep the skull plate attached or cut off the antlers at the bases and mount them on? how dificult was the process and would you do it again? thanks, just wondering because i have an elk im wanting to do and have been researching mountain mikes for sometime now.

Here are a couple of pics my wife had. I would definitely do it again because I know it would go smoother the second time and the final product looks great! You do have to cut the antlers off and then sand them down to the burrs (bases.) Count on possibly using different screws than the ones that come with it. I ended up having to use shorter ones because of how the holes aligned with the antlers. I found it easier to gorrilla glue the plastic skull plate to the antlers prior to drilling the hole. Helps keep it steady. Then again, we were having to be very careful because of the velvet. I could have also swallowed a little bit of pride and watched the instructional dvd that came with it. hah

Tools that'll help:

Sawzall
4.5" grinder with a 36 or 40 grit sanding disk
good drill bits
gorrilla glue
tape measure for before and after
and a buddy for the extra help!

Looks awesome on that camo, gotta love mikes skulls!
But i gotta ask the question of why did you not just keep the antlers on the original skull?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-08-10 AT 04:57PM (MST)[p]That looks cool. I like the velvet look on those euro skulls. I did 2 mounts like this from this last season. I think they turned out real nice and I ended up shooting a little "Preserve It" in gloss over the whole thing.

Yes you have to cut the antlers off but not a big deal. Take a picture and pull a few measurements off the antlers on the skull plate then cut and attach to match them to the measurement and the photo. 1st one took about 20 min. 2nd about 10min.

I got to be honest. I don't like it and there is no way I would want that done to a deer of mine. Ron

Looks good chap_dog. I think they look great, I mounted my daughters 09 buck on one last week and it turned out sweet. I have a 5x6 in full velvet that I'm going to put on one also.

This is a hard one. Can't make up my mind if I like them or not but I do know mine are going to be white. It's an interesting angle in marketing. That alone makes them cool!

Hey Jeff, how's it going? We'll be there! We all got our rejection emails for bear last night. Looks like we'll just be chasing deer around. I can't wait:) I'll be heading up there in July for a few days, I'll call before I come in.

Brandon, good to hear from you. Yes I got the same rejection email for bear too. 7 points and still can't draw. I look forward to hearing from you. See you on the mountain...
