Got my 2009 mule deer back from the taxidermist yesterday.

This is my first animal that I have ever had a shoulder mount done on.

Here's a post I made when I shot him - http://www.monstermuleys.info/cgi-b..._thread&om=19225&forum=DCForumID6&archive=yes

Here's the finished mount at the house!

I'm not sure what's up with the streaks on his face, I didn't notice it at the taxidermist's shop under flourescent lighting, but they are noticeable under ambient light at the house. He said to bring it back up and he would look at it.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the end results though.

I think he looks great on the wall!

Does look great up there on the wall. Nice looking buck! thanks for sharing...

I'll be curious to see what your taxidermist says about the streaks. I have a muley w/ the same issue. Doesn't really bother
though.

Thx for sharing.....nice deer

Looks really nice. Some people will posts up pictures of their deer just back from the taxidermist and it looks like sh*% and people rant and rave about how good it looks, but this one really does looks great. I'm pretty critical and pretty picky about my mounts, but I like this one. Nice set of horns too.

Nice. Cool place to put him too. Thats also one of my favorite Bev prints. I'm jealous.

Thanks. The Bev Doolittle print is a knock off, still looks good enough for me though.

Nice buck and I really like the mount. The taxidermist that I use told me he hates when people hang up a nice mount that he put all the time in and then they dont take a putty or butter knife and tuck all the hair back behind the deer where it makes contact with the wall. I never gave that any thought but now that I have done that it really does look better. Again, great buck and mount!

Thanks! I didn't notice the hair not being tucked in until after I took the pictures. I tucked the hair in, but was too lazy to go take more pictures. I didn't think anyone would notice, but I guess I'll take new pictures and replace the existing ones.

I posted this over on www.taxidermy.net and got a lot of different suggestions and input on the streaks. Most likely it was caused by something in the tanning process. My taxidermist re-hydrated the face and re-groomed it and it seemed to help a little.

Took some new pictures when I got it back.

Thanks for the input everyone. Maybe one day I can put a bigger one up on the wall at the house and take this guy up to my office!

Again, very nice! Congratulations on a great buck and a beautiful mount.
