Wow, Great looking bull there. I was in 6A on Saturday and saw over 25 elk but they were all cows. Looks like that one will be worth keeping an eye on for sure..

John

The local school yard crew isn't looking too bad this year! Luckily the ol lady and I drew arc bull tags! Shooting one of those bulls would kinda be like shooting a pet though...lol! Maybe should keep unit # on the dl on public forums unless we want draw odds getting even worse though!!!

i don't think they are at their best physical. albeit, it's out of anyone's control.. that bull on the right looks like a little runt bull. if he every get's a big rack he will look ultra giant with his runt body.

That bull on the right looks to be the largest to me. He is just 5 yards further away. His fronts and thirds are longer than all the rest of the bulls in that pic.

a little blurry but...... this one has a unique right top

the first one was taken about 250-300 yards out cut and cropped

Well this by far not my best, the lighting totally sucked. But some unique photos. Some were shot with an ISO of 12800

I've been thinking what to do with those grainy photo's. WHATCHA THINK of the first pic? Pretty Slick HUH?

Ahhhh....... the rain is finally here, let them tops grow to be huge WHALETAILS.

I went up buy indian tank antalope tank ever single tank is dry and didnt see any sign of elk i sure hope the rain gets here soon .

Zuki those tanks won't get wet unless there is some good monsoons right in that zone. But if they do it will be a good year.

at this point rain will not help antler development. those bulls are what they are. below average horn growth this year. if the rains don't come quick and in force the rut will be sluggish as well.

I dont agree, there is still water and plenty of green out there.
According to the new Outdoorsmans magazine, the Article on antler growth it shows the units around Bellemont had above average snowfall this year which theyre predicting good antler growtH

I thought everyone would like to see a close up of the bull leading the pack of 20 bulls

good luck with that one. most of these bulls travel up to 15 miles when the rut starts. he could end up in 8,9,10 or 6b.
thats why it dont pay to scout until the rut actually starts.

johnny

Ive have been there alot and it seems more bulls come into the unit than leave i have a big bull picked out, i hunted him 2 years ago and he's still there just smart, some good bulls buy you but i no of 5 tag holders already scouting over there to much people for me .

WOW................. Awesome weekend WOW......................................

Been a few weeks since the last post, but finally got to head back up. It rained and drizzled so I didnt get a whole lotta activity. But i think these boys are finally done growing. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks i can get some bloody velvet photos. the first two photos show the same bull (now and then). You can tell by the 3 inch kicker off the right eyeguard. Stay Tuned

JH,
Thanks so much for your time to take and post the photos. They are great. It sure gives us bull fever and for everyone that is drawn for elk a big rush. I was up there yesterday and saw some fresh rubs so you should get some photos soon on the velvet being stripped.
Thanks again and if you can post more. They are awesome.
Steve

Muleybull, I met you last year in unit 10 near rods tank. I was calling bobcats and you came down the road and asked if i needed help, and i said no i was predator calling. Hows the lion hunting goin? Were headin up next weekend to try and call some bears in 6b

John Hiller

I have a question for you archery elk hunters this is my second archery tag and had the time of my life in 7 west 2years ago well i have the same tag again the way i was told to hunt them is to chase buggles in the morning and sit water in the evening is this the best way to hunt the bulls or what about sitting on water in the am has anyone had any luck with that seems most people were sitting them in the pm thanks

If any body hit a nice 6x6 in the northern part of the unit pm me looks to be a 340 to 350 bull real nice found dead with arrow stuck in him .

I would start a new thread with this. Chances of someone finding this inside this thread would be slim. Hopefully you can find the archer.
