I placed this post on the Utah forum but thought I would do it here too and see if I could get some help.

I am an old bowhunter (69) and would like to get as much help on where to get a decent mule deer buck in the bookcliffs, on the archery hunt. I drew that tag this year and haven't been there in many years so any help would be welcome and very much appredicated. You can send me a PM or give me a call at 801-262-4416. Thanks in advance.

For anyone helping me, I will email you a full sized photo of either a buck deer, buck antelope, bighorn sheep, bull elk, or any of some of my best bird photos. I'ts my way to say thanksto you for your help and your time.

Thanks in advance.

Bill Allard Murray Utah.

Have a good one BB

Wiley,
I am nominating that for post of the
century on Monster Muleys!

Your are spot on.

Bill, in my personal opinion, I don't think there is a funner hunt in UT than this hunt. Great weather, lots of deer, and easy glassing. You will see a ton of bucks and have lots of opportunities to stalk or ambush. There are a dozen areas to hunt, but I would suggest driving the Hay canyon/divide road, glassing the canyons for bucks to go after. Good luck. Great pics, by the way. Bill Murray, what a great name.

just pick a road and drive. You don't have to get too far off the road to find a decent buck on the book cliffs. Really, it is that simple.

We scouted some good areas with Chad last year for his tag. My uncle and his kids might get the tag this year and I might be out there again. Good luck to you!

Wish I coulda been going with you Bill. 6 points and no go for me-LAME! Save me one for next year.

BB, You wont have any problems finding deer that is for sure. If you want a couple of waterholes worth sitting, let me know.

Bill,
As Gordy, mentioned Chad had the archery deer tag last year and my Dad and sister had it the year before, so we have spent a lot of time out there the past couple of years (more time scouting than actually hunting due to itchy trigger fingers :)

As luck or fate would have it, my Dad drew another archery deer tag at the expo this year and Chad (LUCKIEST SOB in the world) drew the Book Cliffs archery elk tag with 0 points, so we will be back out there again a bunch this year.

Chad may have already talked to you, but if not, let us know and we could share notes from past years and compare notes from this year.

Take care,

Cory

I drew that tag last year it was a way fun hunt but no luck on killing anything. I found that the further east you get the better quality of decent bucks there were but the further west you go like towards 10 mile nole you have more of a chance of seeing a big buck, thats how it seemed to me anyway. The best thing you can do is every spot that you can glass you glass it for like 15 20 minutes and you will eventually see a buck there. If you want some more info you can email me at [email protected]
